WWE 2K25has officially replaced the New Wave Pack DLC’s previously promised celebrity guest character with resident luchador El Grande Americano. The New Wave Pack forWWE 2K25was the first in a series of DLC releases, consisting of up-and-coming performers like Chris Sabin and Alex Shelley of the Motor City Machine Guns, Stephanie Vaquer, and the current WWE Women’s United States Champion Giulia in their very firstWWE 2Kappearance.
The New Wave DLC pack was also set to include a special celebrity guest, similar to the later Dunk and Destruction Pack’s NBA stars Tyrese Haliburton, Shaquille O’Neal, and Jalen Brunson and theWWE 2K25Fearless Pack’s KSI (who comes dressed in the Prime energy bottle costume he wore while trying tohelp Logan Paul atWrestleMania 39back in 2023). However, this celebrity guest was mysteriously absent when the New Wave Pack launched in May, with developer Visual Concepts promising that they would be added at some point in the future.
Now, it seems that this plan has been changed, andWWE 2K25is instead adding a currently active member of theMonday Night Rawroster. As announced on the officialWWE 2K25Twitter page, anyone who has purchased theWWE 2K25New Wave Pack DLCeither by itself or as part ofWWE 2K25’s Season Pass or any of the game’s special editions will be able to add the masked luchador El Grande Americano to their wrestling lineup free of charge in September.

Hailing from “the Gulf of America,” El Grande Americano made his debut on the March 24 episode ofMonday Night Raw, dressed in an American flag-themed costume and sporting a look and move set suspiciously similar toAmerican Made leader Chad Gable. Even though Gable was sidelined with a shoulder injury late last month, El Grande continues to appear onRaw, and many suspect that this new version is Ludwig Kaiser. While El Grande Americano himself is making his video game debut inWWE 2K25, both Chad Gable and Ludwig Kaiser have appeared in several past entries.
The announcement that El Grande Americano is replacing the mysteriouscelebrity guest inWWE 2K25’s New Wave Pack DLChas drawn mixed reactions from fans, due to the controversy about the gimmick itself and the belief that El Grande could have just as easily been released as an unlockable alternate costume for Gable or Kaiser instead of a separate character. It hasn’t been confirmed who the celebrity was going to be, but many think that it might have been Travis Scott due to his surprise involvement in this year’sWrestleManiafeud between John Cena and Cody Rhodes.
