A big overhaul to the bank system inWorld of Warcraftcould be coming to the game as soon as Patch 11.2. Though nothing is confirmed yet, these potential adjustments could make their way toWorld of Warcraftas early as Patch 11.2.

TheWarband Bank is one of the new features added inWoW: The War Withinto overhaul item storage. Each tab of this shared space is unlocked for an entire account, and can be accessed by any character, making it much easier to trade items to alts. Blizzard also confirmed that it eventually planned on using the UI and functionality from the Warband bank for the personal level as well somewhere in the future.

Now, it seems like this change might be on its way soon. Wowhead recently discovered evidence on theWoWPatch 11.2 Public Test Realm that suggests these bank changes are in development. The new Safer Deposit achievement, earned by buying six bank tabs, has appeared, which is itself similar to theremoved So Much Sharing achievement fromWoW’s Warbandbank system. Additionally, text strings referencing bank tab naming and purchases, automatic sorting systems, mass reagent deposit, and a bank conversion process have been discovered as well.

Character Bank Improvements in World of Warcraft

The current personal bank is pretty dated, and has remained virtually unchanged since VanillaWoW. Each character only has room for 28 items initially, after which they must purchase slots that then must be filled with inventory bags, only then allowing them to expand their storage. The Reagent Bank added inWarlords of Draenorwas an attempt to alleviate this flawed system by adding an unlockable 98-slot tab for every character that can only store items used by crafters.

All together, it sounds like these personal bank changes will include six tabs that can be purchased, named, customized, and sorted like the Warband bank, with no bags necessary. There also seems to be a conversion process that updates the bank into the new system, and the reagent deposit options also make it sound like it could cannibalize the existing reagent bank. While it is hard to say what it will look like when these changes finally come, it is possible players might find out whenWorld of WarcraftPatch 11.2 arrives on August 5, if not in a later update.

Void Storage, on the other hand, is a separate system geared towards long-term storage. Once unlocked, a character can store up to 160 items in this bank, but with a small fee on each deposit, and limitations on what objects can be stashed. Originally implemented as an aid to the Transmog system, the Collections tab has madeVoid Storage all but obsolete in modernWorld of Warcraft. It remains to be seen if or how it will be affected by these changes.
