Making a strong character inDiablo 4is all about reading all the various modifiers on your gear andsocketed gems, understanding how they work, and using a play style that takes full advantage of what your character does best. There are dozens of different modifiers to get on gear, and it can be slightly overwhelming to equip all legendary armor with multiple modifiers a piece, doing all sorts of things you may not understand.
Knowing exactly what your modifiers do is the first step in starting to make your ideal build, no matter what class you choose to play or what season you’re jumping into. Ultimate Damage is a common modifier players can find on their gear. Here’s exactly what it does and all the skills it affects, depending on your class.
What is Ultimate Damage in Diablo 4?
Ultimate Damage refers to anydamage done by an Ultimate skillthat deals damage to enemies. All damage done by an ultimate falls under this category, with any other effects being mentioned also counting. For example, if your ultimate attack deals fire damage, the damage done is classified as both fire and ultimate damage.Equipping a modifierthat boosts ultimate damage only boosts the one ultimate you choose to equip, as long as you choose to equip one at all.

No matter what class you pick, your Ultimate will just about always be your best attack by a wide margin, and it can be worthwhile to upgrade it with a few targeted multipliers on your gear. That being said,most ultimates tend to have the longest cooldown timeof any of your other class’s skills, so it’s best not to focus your upgrades too heavily on something you can’t rely on consistently.
