During Act 2 ofThe Alters, players need to place a Gravity Sensor (and craft one). The problem is that the game doesn’t help pinpoint exactly where you need to go to do this. To give players a helping hand, I’ve created this guide to run you through the process of crafting and placing the Gravity Sensor, and how to get rid of the anomaly that’s guarding the location, so that Jan and his band of merry clones can continue with their adventure inThe Alters.
Where to Place the Gravity Sensor in The Alters
You’re Going to Need to Reach a High Point
First off, players need to craft the Gravity Sensor. This can be done from the Workshop and requires50 Metals and 20 Minerals, and takes two hours to craft.
With the Gravity Sensor crafted, head out of the base and immediately go up the High Climb right by the base, and then take a right up another High Climb immediately after. Follow the path straight ahead, and players will find another High Climb that they need to scale to get to the very top of the canyon inThe AltersAct 2 that the Scientist was referring to.
To reach this point, players will need to make sure they’ve crafted the enhanced climbing tool, have plenty of Suit Batteries, and have also unlocked theCheaper Climbing research, as this reduces the energy cost for medium and high climbs by 50%. Without the enhanced version of the climbing tool, players won’t be able to interact with and scale the High Climbs, so make sure you get this as soon as it becomes available, as it’s not only needed here but it’s also generally useful for exploring the planet.
It’s also worth noting that there are some Energy Walls that block the way up to where players need to place the Gravity Sensor. These will drain the suit battery, so I recommend having a good few spares with you to navigate the climbs and these Energy Walls.
Once players have placed the Gravity Sensor at the top of the canyon, it’s highly recommended that players put a Fast Travel pylon as close to it as possible and connect it to their base. Players will need to return to this point later on in Act 2, so doing this saves some precious time as the sun begins to get closer.
With this done, players need to return to the Scientist, who will inform them they now have to craft two Neutralizer Towers in the Workshop for 160 Metals and 160 Minerals each. If they don’t already have a hefty supply of resources, the next thing for them and their Alters to focus on is mining resources.
