Quick Links
SCUMhas a good selection of weapons to choose from, but unfortunately, the majority of them are pretty hard to get. Some weapons like shotguns and pistols are somewhat common, but if you’re looking for assault rifles, SMGs, or full-blow light machine guns, you’re going to have to put in some extra effort.
Despite all that, players can get weapons inSCUMwith a fairly decent success rate if they know where to look. This guide covers some of the places where players can get decent weapons and equipment relatively easily, as well as some tips on how to gear up early.
Where to Get Weapons in SCUM
Before setting out for a loot hunt, you should at least get some basic weapons for self-defense. If you haven’t picked up a Cleaver yet (these are usually found in kitchens), at leastmake a Stone Axe, thenpair it with a makeshift bow with wooden arrows. These are enough to take down a few lone Puppets.
If you want a makeshift gun for emergencies, you can craft an Improvised Rifle using scrap and basic materials.
Police Stations
Once you get basic gear, it’s time to look for better gear.Police stationsare one of the best and earliest places you can loot for decent guns and other equipment. Almost every town on the map (excluding the tiny villages) has a police station in them. Inside every police station are a number of gun lockers that may contain weapons and ammo. These are usually locked, though,so bring some lockpicksor a crowbar.
Here are a few admin commands that will teleport you to some of the police stations on the map.
Console commands inSCUMwill only work if you’re playing singleplayer, or if you’re the admin of a multiplayer server. Use these to learn important locations on the map.
Hunting Camps
If you’re out in the wilderness, keep an eye out for hunting camps. you may usually tell if a POI is a hunting camp by thecamouflaged tents and watch towers in them. They aren’t as good as police stations in terms of potential loot spawns and loot quality, but they’re still worth checking out.
Hunting camp spots include:
Bunkers
There are numerousbunkers all over the island that contain top-tier military gear. However, they are usually guarded by Sentries, large, heavily-armed mechs that will shoot players on sight. They are very sturdy and hard to take down, but their slow movement and predictable patrol patterns make them relatively easy to sneak past.
Big bunkers (the ones with blast doors) can be opened if you canguess the right keypad combinationto unlock their doors. These house a network of tunnels that are usually full of Puppets, including a few special variants. Try not to make too much noise in them, as loud sounds like gunshots can potentially summon a horde or a strong Puppet to your position.
Meanwhile, small, secret bunkers require keycards, which you can find in police stations. They usually don’t have any enemies guarding them, but they’re hard to spot. To access them, simply have the right keycard in your inventory. Unlike their bigger counterparts, these are usually just stockpiles containing weapons, ammo, and equipment.

Points of Interest
Generally speaking, if a place looks like it has valuable loot, then it probably does.Military installations like the Airfield in northwest D4 and Boot Camp in northwest B3are good examples of POIs with good loot. However, these are also patrolled by several Sentries, and they usually have plenty of Puppets inside too.
