As you’re working your way throughDonkey Kong Bananza, you’ll come across different Elder animals. These animals will grant you special powers to help you reach the planet’s core and stop VoidCo once and for all. The Elder Ostrich is the second one you’ll meet within the Forest Layer at the Eggshell Hotel, and like the Kong Elder, you’ll need to place an ancient record on the turntable in front of them to unlock the next Bananza transformation. The problem is, there are two pieces, and tracking them down across the various levels of the Eggshell Hotel can be tricky. Here’s where to find both Forest Layer ancient record pieces inDonkey Kong Bananza.
All Forest Layer Ancient Record Piece Locations in Donkey Kong Bananza
There are two ancient record pieces you need to find in the Eggshell Hotel, and they’re both found on the lower floors. You’ll need to find them, and then return them to the Elder Ostrich one at a time to piece the ancient record back together and complete this objective.
Forest Layer Ancient Record Piece #1
The first piece of the record can be found on the ‘Hotel Pool Floor’. To reach this, head through the golden doors to the right of the Ostrich Elder and you’ll drop down onto this floor.
From here, look straight ahead, and you should see the ancient record piece in a small eggshell-shaped structure across a gap. Head towards it and follow the path around to the right to find a pair of double doors. These will lead you into a central room with one of the seeds that you can throw at targets to create a bridge you can walk across.
Grab the seed, head back out the doors you came through, and return to where the Ancient Record was. Throw the seed at the target on the pillar holding the structure and ancient record piece to get across and grab it.
One of the ‘snake-like’ enemies will appear out of here and try chomping at you. Be quick throwing the seed, or pick up some dirt from the ground and throw it at the enemy’s thorny body to kill it.
Head back over to the pool room, and you’ll find a barrel straight ahead that will lead you back up to the Elder Ostrich, where you’re able to place the first forest layer ancient record piece on the turntable.
Forest Layer Ancient Record Piece #2
The second forest layer ancient record piece can be found in the Eggshell Hotel garden, located on the floor below the pool room. Drop down into the pool room, and then head in the opposite direction from where you picked up the first record piece. Around the corner, you’ll find another set of golden doors to smash through to take you down to the garden.
The garden is overrun with thorns and the purple Void corruption. As soon as you drop in, turn around and take a right by a pillar between two pieces of an interior wall to find a quick gap to where we need to go.
Here, you’ll find a VoidCo poster on the wall, climb up onto the wall here and start moving to your right. Follow the purple Void trail,grabbing the golden nuggetsuntil you reach a platform with one of the Void containers on it. Destroy the totem to remove the Void corruption and drop onto the lower layer.
You’ll find the second forest layer ancient record piece next to two ostriches. Grab it and use the nearby barrel to catapult yourself back up to the Elder Ostrich. Place it on the turntable to begin the Ostrich transformation, which will grant you the ability to hover and ‘fly’ inDonkey Kong Bananza. With this transformation in DK’s arsenal, you’ll now be able to continue on your adventure and work your waytowards the next layers.
