Hooves of the Mountain God are a pair of Unique boots for Barbarians inDiablo 4that can make any Basic Skill-focused build shine well into the late game. It’s one ofthis class' more interesting Uniques, and if you want to keep things simple but effective, then this piece of gear might be for you.
Getting Hooves of the Mountain God inDiablo 4is fairly easy, but it does involve a ton of luck and a moderate amount of patience depending on how strong your character is. Here’s how you can farm for this Unique item.
Diablo 4 Hooves of the Mountain God Farm
You can get Hooves of the Mountain God through the usual sources of random Unique gear (Helltide Chests, Kurast Undercity rewards, etc), but if you want to maximize your chances of getting one of these, you’ll need to fight the Beast in the Ice. This is one ofDiablo 4’sLair Bossesthat drop very specific items.
To get any sort of meaningful loot from the Beast in the Ice (or any other Lair Boss), players will need to haveboss materials— in this case, you’ll need 12 Distilled Fear. You can get Distilled Fear by opening rewards chests in Nightmare Dungeons, though you can also get plenty of these if you finisha Kurast Undercity run opened by a Tribute of Titans.
You don’t need Distilled Fear to fight the Beast in the Ice. However, you won’t be able to loot the boss' hoard chest if you don’t have enough in your inventory.
The Beast in the Ice can be a pain to fight if you can’t kill it quickly enough. During the battle, it’ll fly away and create a storm around the arena, and it will constantly try to push into the storm for a quick death. If you’re unlucky enough to get pushed while frozen during this phase, you’re most likely going to die.
How Good are the Hooves of the Mountain God in Diablo 4?
It’s a niche Unique item that makes Basic Skill builds much more viable in the endgame. If you’re a fan of the Barbarian Bash build orthe Double Swing inDiablo 4, then you’ll like Hooves of the Mountain God a lot.
Hooves of the Mountain God make your Basic Skillscleave and deal up to 100% increased damage. However, this effect only triggers once you reach maximum Fury, and when it activates, your Fury will rapidly drain until you run out. This item pairs extremely well with Frenzy buffed by the Battle Trance Amulet and Ramaladni’s Magnum Opus.
