If the Assassins and Templars got along as well as theAssassin’s Creedfranchise and leaks, then there would be no Assassin-Templar war. The remake ofAssassin’s Creed 4: Black Flagis currently Ubisoft’s worst-kept secret. Indeed, all manner of leaks, reports, official teases, and actor remarks have made the existence ofAssassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag Remakeall but completely confirmed. That, of course, leads to the logical follow-up question of when Ubisoft will give the game a proper reveal.

Last year,Insider Gamingreported thatAssassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag’s remake was intended to release around November 2025. However, this was possibly delayed due to theAC Shadows delay that happened prior to its release. It was reported that this delay would impact the rest of the roadmap, which would imminently meanAssassin’s Creed JadeandAssassin’s Creed Invictus(both codenames)would also be impacted. Still, if its original intent was to release in late 2025, that could possibly still happen. Otherwise, sometime in 2026 sounds likely. With this release window in mind, it becomes easier to track down when to expect its proper reveal.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows was delayed from a November 2025 release to February 2025 then ultimately to March 2025. It’s possible this four-month delay would have a similar impact on Black Flag’s remake. However, it’s also possible that resources were shuffled around, which delayed the remake further.

Gamescom 2025

Ubisoft is confirmed to attend Gamescom 2025, which means fans can expect at least one trailer during the showcase. It’ll be showing offAnno 117: Pax Romanain all likelihood, but anything beyond that is guesswork. However, ifBlack Flagstill drops this year, then Gamescom would be the best opportunity to show it off on the world stage. It would no doubt generate a lot of excitement at the event because of its enduring popularity, and it would be a great power move for the game since there is no Ubisoft Forward event this year. Ubisoft could announce a September event, in theory, but that seems unlikely given these most happen in the summer.

Gamescom is the perfect stage to debut a trailer focused on theAC4: Black Flag Remake’s gameplay. If not Gamescom, then there’s only one other stage confirmed for this year befitting the hype of the remake.

While a title like Black Flag deserves a proper showcase, it wouldn’t be unheard of for Ubisoft to announce it on a random Tuesday.

The Game Awards 2025

If not Gamescom, then The Game Awards is the next logical location for the reveal. This would certainly mean the internal delay pushed theBlack Flagremake into 2026, and even if it were further into 2026 than most would like, TGA is a good way to end the year on a strong note.

Of course, it’s hard to say for sure. It’s possible that Ubisoft doesn’t intend to showcase the game at all this year. That would only mean a longer period of continuousAC4: Black Flagrumors and leaks, which is a bit of a double-edged sword. On the one hand, it’s a good thing because there is clear fan demand for it. On the other hand, fans will eventually get tired of rumors and leaks through no direct fault of Ubisoft itself.

Ubisoft Forward 2026

If fans don’t seeEdward Kenwayrear his head this year, then that means a later 2026 date than most would have hoped. If it were to be announced early next year, then it would have to be a surprise announcement, if not the earliest Ubisoft Forward in the company’s history. The stronger likelihood is thatBlack Flagwould top Ubisoft Forward in summer 2026, meaning fans still have several months ahead of waiting.

Ultimately, barring any surprises, these three events simply make the most sense. I would bet on them in that order—Gamescom, TGA 2025, or Ubisoft event—but many fans would no doubt welcome an earlier surprise.
