Five Nights At Freddy’s: Secret of the Mimichides a lot of its lore in text logs, found hidden within 42 Mailboxes scattered throughout the MCM Facility. This guide will explain how to track each and every one of them down.
For convenience and ease of reading, thisFNAF: Secret of the Mimicguide has been organized to show the mailboxes in the order they can be first obtained, excluding cases where significant backtracking would be required. Naturally, the game allows a certain amount of backtracking that can enable them to be collected out of order, and only a few mailboxes are found in locations that cannot be reached later on (and will be labeled accordingly in their sections.)
What do Mailboxes do in Five Nights at Freddy’s: Secret of the Mimic?
Mailboxes can be found all over the MCM Facility,and can be activated using the Data Diver to download mail.Once downloaded, you’re able to read the mail at any of the computer terminals found throughout the game. Many of these Mailbox messages provide useful hints and can lead you toward secret locations and collectibles, so finding all 42 can be hugely rewarding. The mail also provides insight into the workings of the factory, the people involved in its eventual failure, and the story of Edwin Murray and his family.
All Mailboxes available before earning the Achievement: Olly Olly Oxenfree (Mailboxes 1-3)
All Mailboxes in this section can be obtained before earning the aforementioned achievement,which marks the end of the Jackie Chase Sequence.
Mailbox #1 (Missable!)
The game’s first mailbox can be found by turning left after exiting the van at the start of the game, and heading for the gate that blocks the path up to the house on the hill. The mailbox is just to the left of the gate. Since there is no way to backtrack to this outdoor area after entering the MCM building, you need to access this one before you continue with the game, or you’ll be locked out of it until New Game Plus.
Mailbox #2
The second mailbox can be found just after viewing the welcome show and heading through the side door. It’s just on the left as you enter the hallway leading down toward the security office.
Mailbox #3
The third and final mailbox for this section can be found after your first encounter with the Mimic. After evading and distracting the Mimic so you can reach the door leading further into the factory, head through the door and look to your left to find this third mailbox. This is the last available mailbox until after the encounter with Jackie.
All Mailboxes Before Earning the Achievement: Tickets Please (Mailboxes 4 & 5)
These mailboxes can be found during your trip to the Big Top Showroom, and none of them are permanently missable since you may get back here easily later in the game.
Mailbox #4
This mailbox can be found right after completing the elevator repair minigame. Turn around and head through the vent next to the terminal to find a route that takes you up and over the elevator. From here, you can enter a crawlspace that allows you to drop down into a locked room containing a mailbox, a collectible, and a crank that can be used to open the door back to where you just came from.
Mailbox #5
Mailbox #5 can be found right next to the entrance to the Birthday showroom, after taking the repaired elevator up to the second floor. If you look to the right from in front of the Mr Helpful terminal, you’ll see it behind a desk.
All Mailboxes Available Before Earning the Achievement: Aye Aye, Captain! (Mailboxes 6-12)
These Mailboxes can all be foundbefore completing the Puppet Show in the Theater.
Mailbox #6
This Mailbox can be found by taking a slight detour on your way to the Workshop. After entering the Main Hall, turn left instead of right at the first opportunity to find a door leading to the Theater. you may head through here now that you have Creator Access. Head to the far side of this area to find the ticket booth, and you’ll find a lever nearby that activates a generator puzzle. Complete the generator puzzle to restore power to this area and open some of the shutters, but be careful as the Mimic will arrive in the area once power is restored.
Sneak around the Mimic and head into the crawlspace shown above to reach a vent leading upstairs. Once you’re upstairs, you can head through the second door on your left to find a small room with the mailbox and a collectible inside.
Mailbox #7
This mailbox can be found just after entering the Workshop, next to a cutout in the hallway leading to the Springlock Assembly Room.
Mailbox #8
This Mailbox can be found near the winch that lowers the Springlock Suit head, in the workshop.
Mailbox #9
This Mailbox can be found in the workshop, in the area the Springlock Suit head is lowered into.
Mailbox #10
This Mailbox can be found in the section of the workshop where the Springlock Suit’s Cannon Arm is located. Simply locate the arm and then look behind you.
Mailbox #11
After making it to the TV Studio, you’ll find this mailbox in the small room with the terminal, inventory system, and audio log.
Mailbox #12
This last Mailbox can be found in the TV Studio, after exiting the Springlock suit and heading through the vent tunnel. There’s a lift here that requires the Springlock Suit to use, and the mailbox can be found behind it.
All Mailboxes available before earning the Achievement: Doctor’s Orders (Mailboxes 13-16, All Missable!)
These are all available during the Doll Hospital Section, and can be permanently missed if you don’t collect them on your first visit. Remember that, if you die without an autosave, you’ll lose any mailboxes accessed since your last autosave and must collect them again.
Mailbox #13
After heading through the Creator Door to escape Dolly, after entering the main section of the Doll Hospital, you’ll find this mailbox on your left next to a generator, which can be used to distract Dolly.
Mailbox #14
After reaching the Incinerator Room through the vents, this Mailbox can be found on the right, near a computer terminal.
Mailbox #15
After heading back into the Doll Hospital from the Incinerator Room, walk straight ahead, past the trash chute, and look on your right to find this mailbox near a door that only Dolly can use.
Mailbox #16
This Mailbox is found in the same room as the Admin Permissions Upgrade Terminal.
All Mailboxes Available Before Earning the Achievement: Fundophobia (Mailboxes 17-35)
These are all the mailboxes that can be reached before you finish your encounter with a certain monsterin the basement of the facility, mainly consisting of those found in the Warehouse, Admin Block, and the basement itself.
Mailbox #17
This mailbox can be found in the Mail Room, which is through a door opposite the elevator in the main hallway. The door requires Admin Permissions to open, which is why we couldn’t reach it earlier.
Mailbox #18
This one can be found in the Loading Dock, after you restore power while evading Chica. It’s on the raised section with the controls for the cargo crane.
Mailbox #19
This mailbox is inside a small office in the area just past the Loading Dock,after completing the Loading Dock Puzzle.You’ll briefly see the White Tiger when you first enter this area, standing near the door.
Mailbox #20
This Mailbox can be found by heading out of the office and heading straight ahead, following the path toward the doors that lead to the Showrooms and the area above the Welcome Show.
Mailbox #21
After taking the elevator down from where you found Mailboxes 19 and 20, look to the right to see a door next to an inventory machine. Approach it and it’ll open. Turn right after going through the door to find this mailbox straight ahead.
Mailbox #22
After grabbing Mailbox #21, head back the way you came to find the next mailbox next to the door leading to Admin Block.
Mailbox #23
This mailbox is on the right, just after entering the main section of Admin Block, where Chica is patrolling with the aid of her Cupcakes.
Mailbox #24
Mailbox #24 is located next to the locked meeting room, near the keypad. This is just around the corner from Mailbox #23.
Mailbox #25
Turn right after collecting Mailbox #24 to find the alcove where Mailbox #25 is found, opposite a locker you can hide in.
Mailbox #26
Mailbox #26 is found further inside Admin Block,near a locker and opposite an Admin-locked door that leads to a kitchen.
Mailbox #27
This mailbox is in the room at the end of the narrow hallway, just past the door mentioned above. Head through the door shown in the image to find it (it opens when you approach it).
Mailbox #28
After grabbing Mailbox #27, exit the room, turn left, and head out into a new section of Admin Block. Look on your left to find Mailbox 28 behind a desk.
Mailbox #29
After getting Mailbox #28, head past the staircase and look on your left to find this one.
Mailbox #30
After going upstairs, go through the door shown in the image to find a cluttered room with Mailbox #30 inside.
Mailbox #31
Mailbox #31 can be found in the same room as the Executive Access Upgrade Terminal.
Mailbox #32
After getting Executive Access and hopping through the Window, check behind the Ms Helpful Terminal to find this Mailbox.
Mailbox #33
This one is inside Edwin’s Office, through the Executive Access Door near where you got Mailbox #32.
Mailbox #34
This one is on the right after you take the elevator down to the basementand enter the big room with a staircase leading further down in the middle.
Mailbox #35
After taking the elevator up from the Basement, you’ll arrive in a storage room near the Security Office. This Mailbox will be on your right as you head through the storage room.
All Mailboxes You Can Get Before Activating Parachute.exe or Handing Over the Data Diver (Mailboxes 36-39)
These mailboxes can only be accessed before you lock yourself into an ending route, but either require backtracking or can only be reached after you’ve gained Executive Access. This is also the time to backtrack and get any you missed from the previous sections, assuming they weren’t any of the permanently missable mailboxes.
Mailbox #36
This Mailbox can be found in the Executive Bathroom. To reach it, head for the main hallway, through the security code door into the locker room, and then out into the cafeteria area beyond that. There’s a door here that leads into a bathroom, with an Executive Door leading into the Executive Bathroom, where the mailbox can be found.
Mailbox #37
For this one, you’ll need to enter the workshop via the theater, and then find the Admin Door shown above. This will let you reach the section of the Theater that collapsed during the Foxy Puppet Show, where you’ll find this mailbox. You’ll need to crawl under some debris to reach it.
Mailbox #38
Mailbox #38 is found inside the Retail Showroom, next to a computer terminal and near a number pad door.
Mailbox #39
This Mailbox is found in the basement beneath the Retail Showroom, in a small room near the fallen moon, with a Clean-O-Vac, inventory, and a computer terminal nearby.
All Mailboxes Available After Activating Parachute.exe (Mailboxes 40-42)
To reach these last few Mailboxes,you’ll need to return to the Security Office with Executive Access, ignore Dispatch, and use Parachute.exe on the nearby computer consoleto open the path to the game’s second and third endings. Naturally, all of these mailboxes can be missed if you fail to access them while exploring the newly available areas.
Mailbox #40
This Mailbox can be found in the Pizzeria beneath the factory, after navigating your way into the side room where the Springlock Freddy Suit is found.
Mailbox #41
After meeting F10-N4, you’ll reach a large room containing transportation that will take you from the factory to Edwin’s House. The 41st Mailbox is right in the center of the room when you enter.
Mailbox #42
The final Mailbox is found in the area right before Edwin’s Office in his house, in the same room as a computer terminal and a model of the Factory.
