Bananas, or Banandium Gems, are the aim of the game inDonkey Kong Bananzaas you work your way to the core of the planet. While they’re typically earned by digging your way through the various sublayers and completing puzzles, they can also be earned by spending your hard-earned Banandium Chips on them. The problem is, they can’t just be used to buy a Banandium Gem whenever you want. You’ll need to find a Banandium Chip exchange inDonkey Kong Bananzato do so.
Where to Find Banandium Chip Exchanges in Donkey Kong Bananza
Few and Far Between
Banandium Chip exchanges aren’t found on every sublayer, and the first one you’ll encounter is on the sub-layer (SL) 200, within the Hilltop Layer. Here, you’ll find three shops to the left when you first enter the area. The Chip Exchange is the middle of the three, and is marked with a blue hexagonal icon with a yellow circle in the middle of it.
Interact with the NPC here and you’ll be given the option to exchange 10 Banandium Chips and 100 Gold for one Banandium Gem. Agree to the exchange, and you’ll get a Banandium Gem for your efforts.
you’re able to continue to exchange your chips for Banandium Gems at the same exchange location, but it’s worth noting that the amount of chips and gold you’ll need to exchange will increase each time you complete a trade at the same location.
Only the first Banandium Gem you get from a Chip Exchange will count as a collectible within the layer. Any others you get from that exchange location will count towards your Banandium Gem total and can be spent on skill points, but won’t count towards the layer’s completion.
While there are more Chip Exchanges that you’ll find as you work your way through each layer, if you have an abundance of Banandium Chips and want to get some gems to earn more skill points, you can alwaysuse the fast travel optionin the game to quickly travel back to SL 200. However, there’s also the option torespec if there are skills you’re not usingand you could do with spending the points elsewhere.

Less Common Than Gold
Banandium Chips are obtained by mining the earth, smashing up boxes, defeating enemies, and opening up the buried chests. They’re small white hexagons with a gold ridge and a pink ‘sparkle’ icon in the center of them.
The amount you get will vary, but I’ve found that enemies and just digging through the earth have been the two most lucrative sources in my time with the game so far. you may see how many chips you have by looking in the top right of the screen. Your chips are the second number listed here, below your gold.
