You’ll notice it during career playthroughs when your Umamusume suddenly gets hit with a burst of inspiration, called a Spark, and gains a few stat boosts afterward. What are Sparks in Umamusume Pretty Derby?
InUmamusume Pretty Derby,Sparks are the inherited stats, aptitudes, and skills your character gets from her Legacy Team(also known as parents or Veteran Umamusume). Simply put, every horsegirl begins with a base set of attributes:Speed, Stamina, Power, Guts, and Wit. You’ll build on these during her career to turn her into a top-tier racer, but Sparks give her anice head startby adding bonus stats on top.
That means, instead of starting with 100 Speed, a horsegirl might enter the academy with 120, making her stronger before training even begins. During her journey, she can also getsurprise sparks of inspirationfrom her Legacy horsegirls, helping boost her attributes even more and giving her a solid lead in career races.
As such, she’ll also get better aptitudes for things like Track, Distance, and Running Style, and even pick up some handy skills from her legacy racers, both at the start and while training.
How Do Sparks Work in Umamusume Pretty Derby?
Sparks are tied to your horsegirl’s Legacy Umamusume; basically the two parent racers you pick before starting her career. The Sparks they pass down show up in four colors:
While you can see most of the Sparks directly on a parent’s legacy profile, all four types only show up in the sidebar once you confirm the Veteran Umamusume. You can switch them out afterward if you change your mind.
To get the improved stats, aptitudes, and skills you want, it helps to be smart with Legacy Team picks. Let’s say you wantyour trainee to start off with more Staminaand do well in long-distance races, then go for two veteran racers who haveStamina as a Blue SparkandLong as a Pink Spark, ideally withthree starson both. Do the same for Green and White Sparks if you’re aiming for a certain skill.
Since Legacy horsegirls also have their own parents, it’s even better if those grandparents share the same focus stats or skills with three stars. That way, your trainee has an even better shot at getting great Sparks.
How to Create The Best Legacy Team in Umamusume Pretty Derby
While Legacy Umamusumes with one or two stars on Sparks might still work, those with three stars give the most stat points and better traits or skills. So, ideally, those are the ones you want to use for your trainees.
InUmamusume Pretty Derby, Legacy horsegirls can either becreated by completing the careersof your trainees orborrowed from other players. The best approach is to build your own Legacy Umamusumes with three-star Sparks in the areas you want. This way, you can reuse them anytime. That said, building perfect Legacy Umas isn’t easy since the Sparks (stats, aptitudes, and skills) they get after a career run are mostly based on luck.
