Creative Assembly has dropped Patch 6.2.2 forTotal War: Warhammer 3, bringing improvements to the Warriors of Chaos campaign, performance enhancements, and numerous faction-balancing adjustments. The sheer number of adjustments made toTotal War: Warhammer 3in the update promises a fresh experience for new and experienced players alike, supplementing recent changes made to the game’s Magic system with tweaks to almost every faction.

Although it’s only been a few weeks sinceCreative Assembly released Patch 6.2 forTotal War: Warhammer 3in late June, update 6.2.2 boasts a hefty list of patch notes full of bug fixes and balance adjustments. Where Patch 6.2 focused on overhauling Magic Items and effects, 6.2.2 makes hefty changes to individual units and their abilities. Fans of the Domination game mode will now find elite infantry units much more useful for contesting points than lesser units, thanks to a boost to their capture power. Creative Assembly also raised the chance for all foot characters to ignore knockback to 40%, including light non-combat characters such as wizards.

Patch 6.2.2’s bug fixes include an improvement to the AI in theTotal War: Warhammer 3Warriors of Chaos Campaign, specifically regarding construction priorities. The patch refines the Auto-construct buildings feature and affects how the Campaign’s AI chooses construction templates for appropriate building categories. Other fixes resolve excessive loading times for PCs running the game on HDDs, actions that cause the game to crash, and UI visibility issues.

Creative Assembly haspromised the Tides of Torment DLC forTotal War: Warhammer 3will bring the final playable faction to the game in July. However, a specific release date for the DLC beyond that has not been announced, making a July release seem less likely. The developer will be celebrating theTotal Warseries' 25th anniversary from August to November leading up to the Total War: 25th Anniversary Showcase in December, so fingers crossed the DLC will drop before summer’s over.

We identified and resolved an issue with how military buildings for the Warriors of Chaos are categorised and prioritised. This fix improves the Campaign AI’s construction priorities and incentivises it to choose better province-level construction templates.

Additionally the “Auto-construct buildings” feature should be much better about choosing the correct buildings in the corresponding categories. We will continue to monitor the situation in case any further issues arise.

Elite infantry in Domination

We’ve created a new category of capture power for elite infantry specifically in domination mode, increasing their ability to contest the point vs cheaper units.

Units in this category have a capture power of 7 compared to the usual 5 for infantry.

Foot Character minimum knockback resistance

We’re raising the minimum amount of knockback ignore chance we give foot characters to 40% across the board.

Previously, several light non-combat characters (mostly wizards) had values between 20-30%.

These characters are proving a bit more resilient than we’d like when faced with overwhelmingly massive opponents, so we’re raising the odds that they’ll stay standing when attacked, allowing them to both receive (and dish out) attacks a bit more reliably.
