Today marks the end of an era forThe First Descendant, as Nexon is ending support for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of the game. This important move was announced in March 2025, and unfortunately forThe First Descendantplayers on those platforms, that day has finally come.
The First Descendantis a free-to-play third-person multiplayer looter shooter that launched in July 2024, introducing players to a sci-fi fantasy world that blends cooperative multiplayer gameplay with RPG elements. In it, players become a “Descendant,” a somewhat enhanced version of a human, and dive into fast-paced battles either solo or with a team of friends. The game faced some criticism at launch, especially regarding its monetization strategies and progression systems, thoughThe First Descendantstill managed to draw a significant number of playersdespite these early setbacks. While the title was initially released for PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S, it is now saying goodbye to two of them.
As previously announced by Nexon, today, June 19,The First Descendantwill no longer have support on PS4 and Xbox One. Nexon noted difficulties maintaining the PS4 and Xbox One builds and said the older hardware simply couldn’t keep up with the demands of new content. While this may be disappointing for PS4 and Xbox One owners, players can carry over their account information to other platforms.

Another reason Nexon cited for this change is its desire to continue delivering better experiences to the game, likeThe First DescendantSeason 3, which is designed to bring an “overhaul” of the game. This way, the developer can focus entirely on improving the experience on newer platforms instead of struggling to make it work on older ones. The Season 3 update will launch this summer on August 7 and will also include a collaboration with the popular JRPGNieR: Automata.
The crossover will feature outfits fromNieR: Automatacharacterssuch as A2 and 2B.
