FromSoftware and Bandai Namco are preparing to treatElden Ring Nightreignfans to a brand-new mode that’s been anticipated since the game’s launch, and despite the recent delay, players have a handful of new content to become engrossed in very soon.Elden Ring Nightreignwas first launched back in May, serving as a roguelike action RPG and spin-off to the 2022 base game. Players return to a now procedurally generated version of the Lands Between’s Limgrave, now titled Limveld, where Nightfarers can battle in single-player or in co-op teams to thwart enemies across the map.
Elden Ring Nightreign’s Steam player count dropped by 82%recently, and while this seems like a worrying statistic, it’s important to note that the game is not a live-service title that constantly needs to keep players engaged with battle passes, microtransactions, and seasons, for example. That being said, FromSoft plans to keep fresh content rolling intoNightreign, including the latest new mode that promises double trouble for Limveld bosses.
FollowingElden Ring Nightreignpatch 1.02’s last-minute delay, postponed due to the tsunami warnings following the Kamchatka Peninsula earthquake, players will finally be able to dive into the new content very soon. Patch 1.02 is expected to be distributed today, Thursday, June 28, 2025, after 10:00 CEST / 1:00 PDT. Since the update was moved forward, the second cycle of Everdark Sovereign, which was scheduled to drop today, will be delayed until after the patch file has been deployed.
Elden Ring Nightreign Patch 1.02 With Duo Expeditions Releases Today
The primary draw to this update is, of course, the new Duo Expeditions feature, which will allow players to enter a two-player multiplayer mode. The patch will also see several quality-of-life improvements with an enhanced UI interface and improved relic filtering features. Game Rant’s Anthony Bussing believesElden Ring Nightreign’s two-player mode may have arrived a little too late, since the game’s standard three-player format has become a bit of a staple.
Adding to the Duo Expeditions mode,Elden Ring Nightreign’s new Everdark Sovereignstease the return of enhanced bosses in the Fog, including the likes of Tricephalos, Augur, and Equilibrious Beast. However, it has not been confirmed in what order these bosses will return to play. Despite the game’s aforementioned player count drop, Everdark Sovereigns has proven to be a popular feature that’s spiked player interest in the past. Therefore, it makes sense for FromSoft to continue the feature.
