Netflix’sThe Witcherhas been one of the streaming service’s most popular fantasy shows, and even though its return date may be a while away, fans will finally get to see Liam Hemsworth as the new Geralt (whether they want to or not). However, Andrzej Sapkowski, who wroteThe Witcherbooks, seems keen on the idea of Hemsworth taking on the role, even going as far as to gift him a special present as well as officially knighting him as Geralt of Rivia.
It hasn’t been plain sailing for the adaptation created by Lauren Schmidt Hissrich since it replaced its beloved Henry Cavill in season four withThe Hunger Gamesstar, Liam Hemsworth. Many fans saw Cavill’s portrayal of Geralt as the only face of the monster slayer, and over the span of his appearance in three seasons ofThe Witcher, theSupermanstar accumulated a mass of devoted followers. In what seemed like a cruel twist of the knife, Kim Bodnia, who played Geralt’s mentor and fellow witcher Vesemir in season two, alsoleftThe Witcherdue to other commitments. However, the show must go on, and so far,The Witcherseason four has a host of incredibly talented actors joining its cast as fans wait with bated breath to see how the show’s next fantasy installment pans out.
Andrzej Sapkowski Gifts Liam Hemsworth a Specially Dedicated Copy of The Witcher Book (And Knights Him)
In a post onReddit, a Witcher fan has translated a recent Polish interview with Tomasz Bagiński, an executive producer for Netflix’sThe Witcher, in which a few surprising details between Liam Hemsworth and author Andrzej Sapkowski were disclosed. Talking in a section towards the end of theYouTube video, Bagiński revealed that he remembers how Sapkowski, upon hearingHemsworth would be the new Geralt of Rivia, gave Liam a personally signed copy ofThe Witcherbook, which also officially knighted him as Geralt. So it seems as though the author of the books has taken a big shine to Hemsworth playing The White Wolf, which is a pretty good sign.
“There was a nice moment when me and Marcin Zwierzchowski gave Liam a copy of the book signed by Sapkowski where Andrzej [Sapkowski] officially knights Liam as the Witcher. You’ll see [Liam as Geralt] in a little while, but I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised.”
In the interview, Bagiński also talked about Ciri inThe Witcherseason 4, revealing that he was very impressed with Ciri’s arc this time around and how muchFreya Allan really got into the depths of the character. “Ciri’s plot turned out really excellent, truly incredible. Freya got so immersed in this character after the third season, she became so connected with her, I think her arc will be significant to these last two seasons.”
So far, season four has revealed a host of new cast facesthat are joining the show, which includes Gareth David-Lloyd, who voiced Solas inDragon Age: The VeilguardandDragon Age: Inquisition, as well asGame of Thrones' Gary Oliver, plus many more. 2025 looks like it could be the year ofThe Witcherafter all, with a hopeful release sometime before the end of summer.
