A half collection of remasters, half creator toolbox, Battlefield Portal was seemingly primed to be the next big thing for the franchise. The mode aimed to capture the creativity of the community while also looking back and honoring the series' roots. Yet while a lot of Battlefield 2042’s rough edges have been sanded down into something resembling a decently well-received entry, its Portal mode has remained a graveyard of good ideas left unattended.
