Deadlinereported thatAMC renewedThe Walking Dead: Dead Cityfor season 3. Fans have been waiting since the season 2 finale, which aired on June 22nd, 2025, to find out if Negan and Maggie’s story is going to continue.
Deadline also reported thatSeth Hoffman, who was a writer and co-executive producer on the original series, is the new showrunner. Eli Jorné held the position for the first and second seasons.
The Walking Dead: Dead Cityseason 1 premiered in June 2023, with season 2 arriving just under two years later in May 2025. Abehind-the-scenes look at season 2 teased Negan’s beloved bat Lucille, and fans definitely saw plenty of this memorable prop in these eight exciting and compelling episodes. After the shocking events in the season 2 finale, it was impossible to imagine the show ending forever, at least not without a proper conclusion. While it’s unclear how many more seasons the popular spinoff will get, it’s good news that Negan and Maggie’s journey will go on for at least one more season.

He penned season 4, episode 8, “Too Far Gone,” which features a horrifying threat from The Governor (David Morrissey).Hoffman also wrote season 6, episode 12, “Not Tomorrow Yet,” which spotlights Carol Peletier (Melissa McBride) and gives her a dark storyline.
