Summary

Hideo Kojima’s latest game has a lot of mechanics that don’t unlock until players are deep into the experience. This includes the ability tocatch BTs inDeath Stranding 2: On the Beach. BTs serve as the majority of the game’s bosses, and even though they may appear too big to become allies, they are not.

Nearly every large BT inDeath Stranding 2: On the Beachcan be captured using the EX Capture Grenade, which can be acquired in the story. There are no upgrades for this grenade, either. Players just need to weaken a BT, throw an EX Capture Grenade into their mouth, and that should do the trick. These arethe strongest and most useful BT players that can be found and captured inDeath Stranding 2,and they will be ranked accordingly.

Fighting a Delphis BT in Death Stranding 2 On the Beach

8BT Crystal (Delphis)

Your First BT

TheDelphis BTwill be the first boss players will encounter, just outside of the Former Geophysical Research Lab in Mexico. It looks like a small whale, but it won’t put up too much of a fight. It will appear outside of this lab for the most part if players ever need to capture it.

It’s a fine, easy BT to capture that is okay for support, but it is nowhere near as strong as the other whale-like BT inDeath Stranding 2: On the Beach.

Fighting Bestia BTs in Death Stranding 2 On the Beach

7BT Crystal (Bestia)

The Roar Of A Lion

TheBestia BTlooks like a lion if its head were sunken in and it had a mane made of tentacles. They are agile and appear in groups, but captured Bestia BTs will only operate solo, unfortunately.

They can be found near the F5 East Distribution Center, and their key power comes from their laser vision. While their laser power and speed are nice, the Bestia does have limitations in terms of its size.

Megalocarcinus BT in Death Stranding 2 On the Beach

6BT Crystal (Megalocarcinus)

Giant Enemy Crabs

TheMegalocarcinus BTis the final BTboss fight that Sam will fight on his own inDeath Stranding 2: On the Beachduring the story. It will appear on the way to Sam’s bunker in Mexico, and it resembles a towering, spider-like crab.

Catching this BT can be tricky, as players must knock out all of its legs to lower its head closer to the ground. If players can’t capture it here, there is a large tar-covered crater that will randomly spawn BTs that players have already faced. While the Megalocarcinus BT is cool-looking, its massive size is almost too big to be helpful in battle unless players plan to fightother Kaiju-level monstrositiesand create their ownGodzillamovie withinDeath Stranding 2: On the Beach.

Fighting a Gigas BT in Death Stranding 2 On the Beach

5BT Crystal (Gigas)

Attack On Titan

TheGigas BTwill is a giant entity encountered during the game’s final battle, but Sam will not face one. Players can force Sam to fight a Gigas for the Ghost Hunter, though, during his Sub Order 114, which requires maxing out someConnection levels inDeath Stranding 2: On the Beach.

While powerful, the Gigas’ giant body will give it some trouble when attacking enemies on the ground, which makes it more ideal for facing BTs like the Megalocarcinus.

Cetus BT in Death Stranding 2 On the Beach

4BT Crystal (Cetus)

A Whale Of A BT

TheCetus BTis also tied to aSub Order inDeath Stranding 2: On the Beach, which is part of the Fisherman’s series of quests. Sub Order 117 requires players to capture a Delphis and then release it in the tar-covered lake outside of the Fisherman’s abode. Only then will the Cetus appear, aka. The Lord of the Lake.

While it is massive in size, it is still quite fast, plus it can dive into the tar and disappear. This immediately makes it stronger than the Gigas and Megalocarcinus BTs.

Fighting a Octopoid BT in Death Stranding 2 On the Beach

3BT Crystal (Octopoid)

More Tentacles Than You Can Handle

TheOctopoid BTcan also be encountered near the Fisherman’s place, but it doesn’t require a quest to make it appear. It’s a smaller BT that resembles an octopus and features large tentacles that can trip up enemies.

Taking it down and capturing it won’t be that hard, which is funny considering it is one of the strongest BTs in the game. Even against a pack of Bestia BTs, the Octopoid can hold its own in a fight and still have plenty of gusto left over.

Fighting a Kheir BT in Death Stranding 2 On the Beach

2BT Crystal (Kheir)

High Five Hand Slaps

There are a lot of themes inDeath Stranding 2: On the Beach, from characterswith dual identities to stick vs. rope debates to hands. Lots of hands. TheKheir BTis a creature that resembles a blend of a hand and a spider, creating something truly horrific, on par withElden Ring’sMother of Fingers.

Kheir can be encountered near the C1 South Distribution Center in Mexico. These BTs can punch, spray fire, or shoot lasers from every fingertip, making it the most well-rounded BT on the market in terms of its skill set.

Fighting a Raia BT in Death Stranding 2 On the Beach

1BT Crystal (Raia)

Death From Above

TheRaia BTis one of the hardest creatures to capture, and players may throw up their hands in frustration trying to do so. This is the only pure-flying BT in the game, and it looks like a manta ray.

Battles can end abruptly if it sucks Sam up likea UFO tractor beam, and it’s hard to throw the EX Capture Grenade into its mouth from the ground. However players manage to pull it off, the Raia is a must-have BT to call in some air support during battles outside of the DHV Magellan’s later weaponry.
