The Sims 4has received a major update to the base game, adding new features, convenient abilities, and a ton of bug fixes. The update arrives ahead of the launch of the nextSims 4expansion, Enchanted by Nature.
A decade after its original release,The Sims 4is still an actively updated game, with the title set to receive a new expansion pack soon. The newEnchanted by Nature expansionintroduces a new area called Innisgreen, new houseplants, a new Apothecary table, and most exciting of all, the ability for Sims to become Fairies.
In the lead-up to the new expansion,The Sims 4has received an update that adds a bunch of new features and irons out tons of bugs and glitches that have been plaguing the game. To start, Sims' inventories have been overhauled, giving players new methods to sort items, as well as updates to spoiled food, which make it easier to find them in an inventory to avoid having aSim eat the spoiled food. The Notebook now has a new layout, category pages, discovery badges, and improved navigation buttons, plus enhancements for those who use controllers, making it easier to scroll with the right analog stick. Household collections have also received a new interface, making it easier to view collection additions.
Matching the glassroofs available inThe Sims 4, players can now build with glass walls. These should be perfect for constructing greenhouses, but can be used for nearly anything a player sets their mind to. Players can also customize their buildings further by adding plants to roofs in Build Mode. Not every plant can be placed on a roof, but players can easily browse which are available by checking the Outdoor Plants section to see if they’re roof placeable.
The Sims 4has also ironed out tons of bugs, including problems with it raining and snowing indoors, children suddenly becoming stretched out when picking up select items, improvements to Sim behavior and animations, as well as fixes to Build Mode, Create-a-Sim, and issues that arose from select expansion packs.
While the new content in this release is limited, the fixes and additions should help to provide players with a smoother experience once theyget their hands on Enchanted by Nature. The expansion will launch on July 10, so players won’t have to wait much longer to give all the new content a whirl and see what hijinks their Sims get up to as Fairies.

Glass Walls
Add some transparency to your Sim’s life with glass walls! In Build Mode, select “Build”, then select “Wall Patterns”. In the “Misc” filter, you’ll find a selection of Glass Walls that perfectly compliment the Glass Roofs.
Plants on Roofs
Want to add some organic greenery to your builds? Try placing Plants on Roofs! A selection of shrubs and flowers can now be placed on rooftops in Build Mode, if the footprint allows it. To see what kind of plants are available for roofs, enter Build Mode and select “Roof Sculptures”. If you happen to be looking at “Outdoor Plants”, hovering over any plant will tell you if the plant is “Roof Placeable” or not.
