Netflix’sThe Sandmanhas finally woken from its three-year slumber on Netflix and, along with the release of its much-anticipated season 2, the fantasy series' promising Rotten Tomatoes score has also been revealed, but it might have a long way to go before it matches the show’s debut season.
The Sandmanwas created by Neil Gaiman, which ran from 1989 to 1996 and was published by DC Comics. Even thoughThe Sandmanwas going to be made into a movie in 1991, it went through development hell for years, and the adaptation wasn’t to be. Fast-forward to 2019, Warner Bros shifted its focus to television instead of the big screen and signed a Netflix deal to produce the series.The Sandmanfinally premiered in 2022 and, due to its success with DC audiences, the show was thenrenewed for a second season. News of the show’s second season was greatly received by its fanbase, who were excited to experience more of its supernatural fantasy narratives. However, sadly,this will beThe Sandman’s final outing, and a season 3 won’t be in its future, but it seems as though most critics and fans are enjoying what season 2 has to offer…at least for right now anyway.
The Sandman Season 2 Debuts With a Healthy 75% Rotten Tomatoes Rating
As previously said, season 2 ofThe Sandmanwill see the end of Dream’s story, but the show’s departure won’t be straight away, as the series is releasing in two parts, with an added bonus episode titled “The Sandman Presents: Death: The High Cost of Living,” focusing on Dream’s wiser sister, arriving towards the end of July. Even though the rest of the episodes haven’t been completely released yet,The Sandmanseason 2 is currently sitting at a fairly impressive 74%Rotten Tomatoes score. Of course, this is great news, especially since fans have waited so long to see Dream again, as well as afirst look at Destiny and the rest of the Endless, but as the show unfolds, this rating is likely to change, for better or worse.
The Sandmanseason one debuted with a hot rating of 88% on Rotten Tomatoes, with many fans and critics praising the show’s “faithful adaptation of a beloved story” and how it was a “master class in adapting a beloved graphic novel series.” So it seems as though season 2 has a bit of catching up to do. However, season one did release its 10 episodes at once on Netflix and wasn’t split up, so season 2’s outlook is off to a promising start if its second release can hold its audience.
