This List Will Contain Spoilers Up To The End Of The Egghead Story Arc Of One Piece
Summary
Anyone who has watched or readOne Piecewill know very well that this is a series packed full of immensely powerful characters. However, while many of these individuals will be hyped up by others through dialogue, there will inevitably always come a point where these iconic figures need to prove their strength to the audience, which has resulted in some of the most jaw-dropping showcases of power in all of shonen anime.
Considering the staggering number of power-ups and transformations that take place acrossOne Piece’sstory, it means there are plenty of moments like that that fans look back fondly on, but there are definitely a select few that do the best job of demonstrating how insanely powerful a character is beneath the surface. That being said, here are the most memorable and impactful showcases of power that noOne Piecefan will ever be able to forget.
8Zoro Activates Asura
Zoro Manages To Reopen Kaido’s Scar In A Last-Ditch Effort
While Zoro was eager to come face to face with Kaido during the Wano arc, he was also fully aware that this was going to be by far the toughest opponent he had ever faced, considering he was going up against a mighty Yonko. Zoro puts up an admirable fight against Kaido, but it eventually leads to him unleashing a technique that hadn’t been seen sinceWater 7, that being Asura.
With arms spreading from his back and a mystical aura of power surrounding him, Zoro would accumulate so much strength in this form that he was even able to open up the scar on Kaido’s body. Considering that even harming Kaido felt impossible for much of the Wano arc, being able to leave a mark, just like Oden had done all those years before, was a truly impressive feat for the Straw Hats' master swordsman.
7Roger Clashes With Whitebeard
The Pirate King Himself Has Proven Worthy Of His Prestigious Title
Admittedly, Roger isn’t shown a lot throughout the series, considering he is long gone by the time Luffy kicks off his adventure, though it’s clear that, as someone who was able to conquer the seas, he possessed an incredible amount of strength in his heyday. Fans are actually given a glimpse into Rogers' power during a flashback segment where he clashes with none other than his archrival, Whitebeard. By this point in the story, fans were already very familiar with Whitebeard’s powers and how he could literally create earthquakes with a single punch, so seeing Roger casually clash blades with him to shatter the entire Island highlighted the Pirate King’s string strength in all its glory.
One thing is for sure: if Roger was able to easily hold his own against Whitebeard, then it meant there was virtually nobody in the world who would be able to stop him when he was in his prime. While there’s no doubt Oda will reveal more about Roger as the story goes on, this was a scene that had many fans' jaws on the floor because of how well it capturedRoger’s absurd strength and power.
6Shanks Destroys Kid’s Ship
Shanks Uses Divine Departure To Stop Kid In His Tracks
Despite getting a little preoccupied with Kaido and Big Mom after entering Wano, Eustass Kid has always had a seething hatred for Shanks, afterthe Yonkohumiliated him in front of his crew. After the Wano saga finally ends, though, Kid finds himself in the perfect position to demolish Shanks and his group once and for all, prompting him to charge up his railgun to defeat the Yonko with one final blast.
Upon recognizing how much damage this would cause, though, Shanks fires himself towards Kid’s ship in the blink of an eye before unleashing one of his deadliest attacks, Divine Departure. Not only does Shanks single-handedly destroy the railgun from the inside out, he also knocks out almost the entirety of Kid’s crew, to the point where they all willingly give up their Poneglyphs out of fear that Shanks will strike yet again. The speed and strength on display here are truly remarkable, but then again, nothing less would be expected from the legendary captain of the Red Haired Pirates.
5Whitebeard Causes An Earthquake
Whitebeard Single-Handedly Causes An Earthquake Without Even Breaking A Sweat
When Luffy first runs into Whitebeard near the beginning of theMarineford War, the protagonist sees the old geezer as little more than an annoyance. However, it’s not long until he realizes that Whitebeard not only wants to save Ace, but also has more than enough power to do so. NoOne Piecefan will ever be able to forget the epic moment where Whitebeard shows off his Devil Fruit for the first time, which ends up causing an entire earthquake that rocks the Marines to their core.
With Marine ships flying all over the battlefield and foot soldiers running away in terror, Oda knew exactly how to demonstrate to the fans why Whitebeard’s name has become so infamous across the world ofOne Piece. This isn’t even mentioning the staggering amount of punishment Whitebeard takes throughout the conflict, with him continuing to fight on despite having half of his body completely removed due to the constant barrage of gunfire and sword slashes.
4Kaido One-Shots Luffy
Kaido Humiliates Luffy With A Single Thunder Bagua
By the time Luffy arrives in Wano, he has already taken down a plethora of tough opponents over the course of his adventure, including the likes ofKatakuri, Rob Lucci, and many others. As a result, it seemed as though he finally had what it took to take down the Beast Pirates' leader thanks to his newfound strength, despite characters like Big Mom assuring him that he would have no chance of doing so.
It turns out, though, that these warnings actually turned out to be true, as when Luffy first encounters Kaido and goes straight into Gear 4 to deal some damage, he’s instantly taken out of action by a lightning-fast Thunder Bagua, which happens again a little later in the arc. Considering how far Luffy had come and the number of enemies he had managed to beat, the fact that Kaido could lazily knock him out while putting in barely any effort was a stark reminder to fans that this is not a villain who should be taken lightly.
3Luffy Activates Gear 5
Luffy Awakens The True Power Of His Mysterious Devil Fruit
Since the beginning of the series, fans were led to believe that Luffy’s Devil Fruit was known as the Gomu Gomu no Mi, but during the fight with Kaido, this is revealed to actually not be true. In truth, Luffy possesses aMythical Zoan Fruitwhich is related to the legendary figure known as Joyboy, alongside the Sun God Nika. In a moment of desperation, Luffy awakens the true power of his fruit after being knocked out once again by Kaido, and to say that he turns the tables of the fight would be putting it lightly.
When in Gear 5, everything in Luffy’s close proximity becomes his own personal playground, to the point where he is even able to swing around Kaido and slam him into the ground, all while laughing his head off. It’s important to remember that Kaido at this point was presented as being an unkillable monster who was able to brush off attacks like they were nothing, so seeing Luffy treating him like an action figure and having a tremendous amount of fun while throwing him around took many fans by surprise; allowing Luffy to reach the status of Yonko not long after.
2Imu Erases Lulusia From Existence
Imu Will Exterminate Anyone Who Challenges His Authority
Considering Imu was only introduced to the story fairly recently, it means there’s not a whole lot known about this evil mastermind, but one thing that’s clear is that he is extremely paranoid about the secrets of the World Government and the Void Century being spelled out to the public. While it seems that he often lets the Gorosei and Marines do his duty work for him, Imu would eventually be forced to take action himself, and the results were devastating.
With the ancient kingdom known as Lulusia rallying up against the Marines, and with Sabo seemingly residing on the island, Imu decided to use the Motherflame to erase the island from existence entirely. This is already quite a sight to behold in the manga, but the anime does an excellent job at emphasizing the sheer terror that comes from seeing an entire island and its residents being wiped out in mere seconds. While this may not be physical power from Imu directly, it more so relates to the power that Imo wields as a leader, thanks to his influence and arsenal of dangerous weapons.
1Garp Uses Galaxy Impact To Obliterate An Island
Even Way Past His Prime, Garp Can Still Flatten An Entire Island With A Single Punch
As someone who was once strong enough to take on the entire Rocks pirate crew, along with several other tough enemies of the Marines, it’s no wonder that Garp is considered a role model and a hero among many of the foot soldiers and Admirals. However, as someone who is clearly far past his prime, many fans doubted they would ever be able to see Garp go all-out in the main story. That is, until he decided to rock up to Hachinosu Island in order to save his former student Koby.
After leaping off a ship with a giant smile splashed across his face, Garp charges up theimmensely powerful Galaxy Impact. With a single strike, he is able to rock the entire island and even create a massive crater. Needless to say, it’s definitely quite an explosive way to make an entrance, but it’s also just a stunning display of power and raw strength which highlights that, even in his old age, Garp continues to be one of the Marine’s most valuable assets, and a true powerhouse in his own right.
