Ultimate Spider-Man’scel-shaded visuals and the ability to control Venom as well as Spidey made it a great title featuring the web-head. Players loved that this game lived up to their expectations, and fans will still get a kick out of playing this title if they ever get their hands on it.

Ultimate Spider-Man

Shattered Dimensionshad a strong marketing campaign behind it, but the pitch pretty much did most of the work. The idea ofplaying as Spider-Men from other universessounded great, and fans couldn’t wait to get their hands on this title.

Despite some issues with combat and level design,Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensionsis one of the best games in the series, and did the Multiverse storyline way before theSpider-Versemovies became massive hits. More fans of the web-head owe it to themselves to check out this game if they haven’t already.

Ultimate Spider-Man

The idea ofswinging around in a massive open-worldSpider-Mangamewith a focus on symbiotes and Venom was bound to generate a ton of intrigue, which is why fans couldn’t wait to get their hands on this title. The story can be a bit wonky, and the animations have clearly not aged that well, but the rest of the package inWeb of Shadowsis incredible.

Being able to switch between the Red and Black Suits at will feels great, and the addition of other heroes from the Marvel canon helped ensure that this game would feel epic in scale. The morality system may be antiquated, but it did a decent job of making player choices matter in a game that couldn’t just play it safe instead.

Ultimate Spider-Man

WithMarvel’s Spider-Manbeing a massive hit, it’s easy to see why fans expected the world from a newSpider-Mangame. So, Insomniac made a smart move and released what was essentially a standalone expansion inMarvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, featuring just a few upgrades that would help introduce Miles Morales as a playable character for the series.

Players loved controlling Miles Morales as he swung through the streets of New York with a ton of exaggerated swagger and beat down foes in style. The addition of his bioelectric abilities, along with invisibility, did just enough to help the gameplay stand out and left fans happy and satiated while Insomniac went to work on developing a proper sequel to the first game.

Withthe launch ofMarvel’s Spider-Man, fans were treated to what was the best game at the time that featured everyone’s favorite neighborhood wallcrawler. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2was a sequel that fans had high hopes for, and Insomniac delivered in spades. Being able to control both Miles and Peter was already an immense upgrade, with the expansion of New York, the inclusion of web wings (which turned out to be surprisingly great), and the gameplay improvements across the board ensuring that fans would have a great time with this noticeable upgrade.

The story may not be as tightly woven as the first game, but this is a minor complaint in the grand scheme of things. For the most part,Marvel’s Spider-Man 2is an excellent gamethat allows both Peter and Miles to shine in their own ways, all while setting up even more Spider-heroes for the inevitable third game in the series.
