In the originalLittle Nightmares, players were essentially helpless and were forced to navigate the game’s world with no real way to defend themselves. Its sequel modifies gameplay,allowing for the lead character to engage in combat and defend themselves with hammers and axes. You can’t just go around mashing buttons though, as weapon usage must be well-timed or else you’ll find yourself quickly overwhelmed by enemies quite easily.
In Game Rant’s 8/10 review, it was noted thatLittle Nightmares 2"successfully addressed many of the complaints that people had about the first game, while delivering a more well-rounded horror game overall." Improvements over the initial game include more open level designs, better platforming controls, a generous checkpoint system, and more.
