Tekken 8andAtelier Yumiahave kicked off the start of their collaboration, but the players aren’t thrilled withTekken 8’s half of the collab. While far from the first collaboration thatTekken 8has had, players are pointing out how it seems thatAtelier Yumiais putting considerably more effort into the collaboration thanTekken 8’s side did.

Back on March 20,Tekken 8andAtelier Yumiaannounced their collaborationwith a brief teaser, parodying the classic meme of throwing Heihachi off a cliff. In this version, the protagonist ofAtelier Yumiaapproaches the edge of the cliff and throws a Heihachi Puni off of the cliff, before turning her head to smile at the camera, similarly to the classicTekkencutscene. The same moment has been parodied a number of times, including in promotions forSuper Smash Bros. Ultimate.

Tekken 8 Tag Page Cover Art

Now, theTekken 8portion of the crossover has landed, and fans are reportedly underwhelmed.Tekken 8has added two accessories, including a Puni slime and an ahoge, the hair curl that sticks up off of Yumia’s hair. The crossover also included a background, plate, and avatar t-shirt. However, that’s the full extent of whatTekken 8is doing. While theAtelier Yumiaside of the crossover hasn’t yet launched, it previously teased what it would be adding, including a side quest, complete with a Heihachi Puni enemy, and an outfit for Yumia based onReina’s standardTekken 8look.

Tekken 8 and Atelier Yumia Fans Respond to Crossover Effort

Players have already been sharingthoughts on theTekken 8side of the crossover, with numerous users feeling disappointed inTekken 8’s additions. Users have pointed out the effort thatAtelier Yumiahas made for its side, whileTekken 8’s offering is underwhelming. One user called it a “crime,” while another imagined being a hard-working developer “putting in the effort so your collab partner won’t look bad” just to see whatTekken 8had done in return. The issue is made all the more frustration for fans as aTekken 8tweet released just days prior featured a piece of art showing Yumia and Reina swapping outfits entirely.

Atelier Yumia’s side of the collaboration will launch on July 23, so players will be able to go hands-on with its offerings then. Barring any last-minute changes on its side, though, it seems thatAtelier Yumiawill have more content for fans to enjoy thanTekken 8did.

However, it’s not all bad news forTekken 8.Fahkumram has arrived inTekken 8’s Early Access and will launch for all players on July 10. Later in the year, Armor King and a new challenger yet to be revealed will also arrive, giving players something new and exciting to wait for. With any luck, players enjoy those additions more than theAtelier Yumiacrossover.
