SpongeBob: Krusty Cook-Offhas suddenly arrived for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, and players can pick it up now. Though the game was originally a mobile title, this version ofSpongeBob: Krusty Cook-Offremoves the microtransactions in favor of a more traditional progression system.
WhileSpongeBobfans on the Sony family of consoles are likely happy to get their hands on another title featuring the titular character, it’s not the end ofSpongeBobcelebrations for 2025. An upcomingbrand-newSpongeBobgamewill land later in 2025 from THQ Nordic, bringing players back under the sea for one more adventure.
While that title is still a ways off,SpongeBob: Krusty Cook-Offis available now for PS4 and PS5via the PlayStation Store. The title is described as a “fast-food cooking game,” where players create their own Bikini Bottom kitchen, which they can customize and decorate, while the main gameplay is cooking grub from theSpongeBobTV show. Familiar faces from the series will make an appearance as customers, like Patrick Star, Squidward, and others, and additional outfits are available for theSpongeBob SquarePantsseries characters. The game has “none of the grind” of the original mobile title, with the kitchen decorations, costumes, and gear unlocked via progression. Additionally, the PlayStation version of the game comes with four unique power-ups.
SpongeBob: Krusty Cook-Off is Available on PlayStation and Other Systems
Players who want to dive right in can pick up the game for $14.99 on either PS4 or PS5. However, the game is also available on other platforms. The Android and iOS versions are still available for free, albeit with microtransactions enabled. TheNintendo Switch version ofSpongeBob: Krusty Cook-Offis also available for $14.99, which was curiously shadow-dropped just like the PlayStation version back in 2021. The Nintendo Switch version also notes it comes with four exclusive power-ups, so players have a range of choices depending on what system they’d like to play on. The Nintendo Switch version is also compatible with the Switch 2.
SpongeBobis seeing a modern video game resurgence that largely kicked off in 2021 with the release of the remake ofBattle for Bikini Bottom.
