The WinchestersReally Wasn’t The Answer

Several spinoffs ofSupernaturalwere attempted, with some ideas pursued while the show was still airing.Wayward Sisterswas an attempt at a spinoff in the show’s thirteenth season, withan episode ofSupernaturalacting as a backdoor pilot for the idea that would have seen recurring character Sheriff Jody Mills leading her own series of female protagonists. However, the CW passed on the show, much like a similar setup the show attempted in season 9 withSupernatural: Bloodlines, which would have been a gangster crime drama where various monsters headed the families of Chicago’s crime scene.

The Winchesterswas a spinoff that followedthe finale ofSupernaturalbut acted as a prequel, telling the story of John and Mary, Sam and Dean’s parents. The show only lasted a single season, failing to recapture the magic of its source material. WhileThe Winchestersdidn’t last, and other spinoffs failed to get off the ground, fans ofSupernaturalcontinue to rewatch the series, keeping its legacy alive. We’re all a lot older than we were 20 years ago. I don’t know if I have 22 episodes of Supernatural in me. I think a limited series would be great.

The actors have found post-Supernaturalsuccess, withAckles onThe Boys, where Padalecki and Collins are set to join him, thanks to the superhero series having the same creator. Padalecki also succeeded withWalker, and Ackles has even voiced Batman several times for DC in recent years. While the actors have kept busy, they remain close and appear to love the series as much as the fans, making the possibility of a revival possible at any point. While an official revival series remains to be seen,Supernaturalfans have a run of comics to help flesh out their beloved horror world even more.
