A constant in anime is the powerful main characters or villains who receive the spotlight in the series and are the center of the story. However, outside the main protagonist and antagonist, there are a slew of interesting characters with just as much, if not more, power than their counterparts.
On rare occasions, some of the strongest beings in anime aren’t even human, but more so pets that join the main characters on their journeys. Anime is filled with all sorts of creatures of unique designs and origins that make up some of the strongest in their respective series. Some of these creatures are capable of ripping holes in dimensions or defeating entire armies on their own. Here are some of the strongest pets in anime.
Inuyashawas filled with lovable characters, from Kagome to Shippo. The introduction of Sango and her storyline was one of the best additions to the series, which added depth to the show with her tragic backstory. Accompanying Sango was her faithful pet, Kirara.
Initially depicted as a two-tailed cat, Kirara also served as Sango’s partner in combat. In a fiery explosion, Kirara goes from cute and lovable to fierce and bloodthirsty. Able to slay countless demons with her razor-sharp claws, Kirara always proved her worth when given the opportunity.
Narutohas numerous ninjawho undertake treacherous missions alongside trusted allies. Some ninja place their trust in battle pets, which are famous in the Inuzuka clan. Akamaru is the partner to Kiba Inuzuka, a white-furred ninja dog.
Kiba and Akamaru have been inseparable since their first appearance in Naruto, and over the course of the series, we can witness the team’s growth and maturity. Akamaru is a loyal pet who is exceptionally talented in beast mimicry jutsu, allowing him to fight on equal terms with his master. Akamaru can smash through solid stone and leave targets as nothing more than mangled prey.
Hamsuke first appeared in season one ofOverlordas the rumored wise king of the forest, initially an opponent to Ainz Ooal Gown, but turned into a loyal companion after being defeated. Hamsuke is a mighty beast with sentient thought, capable of speaking and learning combat abilities.
While very prideful and a bit overbearing, she is incredibly loyal to Lord Ainz and his comrades. Hamsuke has served Ainz since Season One and has grown considerably stronger, learning to effectively utilize her snake tail, the spell runes on her body, and combat tactics.
Mike serves the Zoldyck family and is a loyal hound that guards the front gate of the estate. While not the only hound in the family’s service, he is one of the few portrayed and named in the series. Mike is a massive, would-like beast with enormous fangs and claws that even frightens Gon upon their first meeting.
Mike clearly possesses immense strength and speed, able to hunt down Gon with ease. Any beast trained and groomed by the Zldyck family is sure to be feared, as the family of assassins is one of the deadliest in the show.
Hawk is the mouthy and prideful animal companion ofMeliodas in The Seven Deadly Sins. While mostly around to gorge on whatever sustenance is lying around, Hawk won’t hesitate to let anyone know just how powerful they are.
What seems like a running gag actually has some truth to it, asHawks' magical power level is rated as a measly thirty, but because they are from the realm of Pergatory, Hawks has more weight behind his claim. Due to being from Pergatory, Hawk is extremely resilient and additionally possesses the power to absorb the powers of things they eat.
Sadaharu is the loyal companion of Gintoki and the Yorozuya. Adopted by Kagura, Sadaharu became the animal companion of the series, taking the form of a shape-changing, white-furred dog with a comically blank expression.
In actuality, Sadaharu is a former dog god who possesses several unusual and powerful abilities. Sadaharu spends most of his time as a happy-go-lucky pup who, on occasion, may bite a person’s head off, without a care in the world. However, if fed a particular mixture, Sadaharu transforms into a formidable beast with increased strength and speed.
