AStardew Valleyplayer with over 1,000 hours of time in the game was surprised to discover a cutscene they had never seen before. It’s just one of many surprises thatStardew Valleyplayers have encountered over the years.
Stardew Valleyfans have been committed to the game for nearly a decade now, and it shows no sign of declining. Developer ConcernedApe has continued torelease updates forStardew Valleythat add new content and fix bugs, keeping players coming back to discover what’s changed. However, not everything that’s in the game is easy to find or encounter.
On Reddit, a player going by Alacovv shared that they had walked out the front door of their home straight into a cutscene they’d never seen before, despite spending a thousand hours or more in the game. The cutscene in question is one between the player and Willy, the town’s fishing expert. In one screenshot, Willy mentions that he’s noticed that the player hasn’t been fishing, so he decided to show up at their doorstep to introduce them to the art. By the end of the conversation, Willy had given the player a free fishing rod, and his brief demonstration led to theStardew Valleyplayer gaining a fishing skill point.
Stardew Valley Cutscene is Fairly Rare Among Players
While some fans knew about this cutscene, it seems to be a rarity among the playerbase. Willy introduces himself to the player early on in the game and gives them an opportunity to talk to him about fishing, but if the player doesn’t gain a skill point by Spring 28 Year 1, this cutscene will be triggered. The rod he adds to the player’s inventory is the Training Rod, which gives players a much larger bar to work with when fishing, making it easier to get started. However, the Training Rod also has some drawbacks, as it can only catch basic fish and can’t use bait or tackle.
It seems most players haven’t encountered this scene because fishing is a good way to make money early in the game, so most players have tried it enough to at least get that initial skill point before the deadline. It was also added toStardew Valleyin the 1.6 update, so players who haven’t started from scratch in a while won’t see it. Thankfully, the Training Rod is still available for purchase from Willy, at a low cost of 25 gold.
AlthoughStardew Valley’s 1.6 update came out over a year ago, players are still finding and sharing unique discoveries within it. ConcernedApe is currentlyworking onHaunted Chocolatier, his next game, but if he releases another content update forStardew Valleyin the future, it’s likely to set off a new wave of rare discoveries all over again.
