Major spoilers ahead for the entirety of Squid Game season 3.

Summary

After four long years,Squid Gamehas finally come to a close. With the finale, many characters' stories have ended either with death or a somber realization that the games can never truly be stopped. Many characters from the final seasoncame into their own, displaying more courage and evil than ever before and demonstrating the lengths to which people will go to survive.

There aren’t that many new characters introduced in the show’s final season, but the existing cast has more than a few characters to root for and to hate. Many favorites meet their end far too soon, while others make it all the way through alive. Whatever their fate, season three shows the true colors of everyone involved and delivers some of the most interesting character arcs of the entire show.

8Seon-nyeo (Player 044)

Just As Crazy As Ever

Seon-nyeo is the arrogant spiritualist who commands her troops with her so-called powers and maintains her superiority complex right the way through. In season three, she continues her self-centered tirade. Sheoften mocks other characterslike Gi-hun for their actions and looks down upon them for now following her will.

What is interesting is that during the hide-and-seek game, she actually slips out of her calm and collected character into a frightened mess, losing sight of her previous beliefs. But even when she gets an opportunity to make it through alive, she slips back into her old ways, leading to her much-deserved death in the most fitting way possible.

7Jeong-dae (Player 100)

Pure Evil From Start To Finish

Jeong-dae is the kind of player who has no regard for the well-being or safety of others, and is only interested in money and himself. He keeps his position as the leader of the blue voters, constantly berating others and demanding that the games continue so he can make it out with as much money as possible.

But much like many of the other more evil players, when the going gets tough, his true self comes out, showing a terrified individual who can no longer rely on the protection of others. Despite a few slips, he remains true to himself and delivers some great moments throughout season three, giving viewers plenty of reasons to pray for his downfall.

6Jun-hee (Player 222)

A Pure Soul In A Mess Of Hatred

Jun-hee is one of the few characters in the show who shows no real anger or hatred towards any other players. She struggles her way through the games thanks largely to the help of other players. But things only get worse as time goes on, with hide-and-seek bringing a fractured ankle and a newborn baby for her to take care of.

When everything takes a turn for the worse, Jun-hee realizes that the only way forward is to give in to the games in order for her child to survive. It would have been nice to see her make it even further, but with her child living on in her name, only time will tell whether more will be seenas the baby grows up.

5Woo-seok

Committed To Solving The Mystery

Woo-seok is one of the only people in the outside world who knows about the games and will stop at nothing to figure out how to put an end to the violence. Initially working with the crew on the boat, he quickly grows suspicious of Captain Park and goes off to investigate on his own, discovering his intuition was right all along.

The reason he is such a great character to watch is that, despite the stakes and everything that he has been through, he still remains strong and amusing. His dedication to the cause knows no bounds, and even though in the end he doesn’t manage to stop the games, he still has a relatively happy ending.

4Hyun-ju (Player 120)

Loyal To The Very End

Hyun-ju is a caring and deeply passionate character who always has the interests of others at heart. She constantly looks out for others and, regardless of what they have done or what they have been through, she always tries to do her best to help them survive, no matter what it takes.

During hide-and-seek, she sticks close to Geum-ja and Jun-hee throughout the whole game and even manages to fight off quite a few attackers before falling right before the end. She died so that others could live, and if it wasn’t for her, many of the other characters would surely have diedlong before season threeeven began.

3Geum-ja (Player 149)

Motherly Spirit For Everyone

Geum-ja is the glue that keeps everyone together. She is not only an actual mother, but a maternal figure that supports everyone in the group and tries her best to keep those around her safe despite her lack of physical capabilities. Through her words alone, she manages to help players like Gi-hun see the light, and she keeps the family spirit going through the pain.

Her circumstances are incredibly unfortunate. With her own son in the games, it was only a matter of time before the two ended up on opposing sides in a competition. Her death was sudden and unexpected, and to see her suffer for so long, taking her own life seemed like the only way out of the hell of the games.

2Gi-Hun (Player 456)

Pushing On Through The Pain

Gi-hun is back for a final time. After a failure to overthrow the guards at the end of season two, he is left a shell of his former self with only hatred to guide him. Throughout the season, he is seen sulking in his own self-loathing, believing himself to be the cause of the deaths and longing for an escape from the cycle.

Yet even at his lowest, he still manages to pull through and stick to his promise to save Jun-hee’s baby, even if it means ending his own life in the process. His story might have ended tragically, but his death wasn’t in vain. Even though he couldn’t stop the games from continuing, at least he managed to save a single life from a doomed fate.

1No-eul

A Welcome Change From The Insanity Of The Players

No-eul is a refreshing character that remains separated from the majority of the cast for the entire series.Living with the pain of her actions, she seeks to save Park Gyeong-seok and his daughter by going against the games and rescuing him, despite having all the odds stacked against her.

She fights and shoots her way through anyone and anything that gets in her way, and manages to not only save the family, but herself in the process. In a surprise twist, she receives a call from the broker who says he may have a lead on her daughter, giving her some hope and a happy ending to reward her for her noble mission that almost cost her life.
