1047 Games has released a brand-newSplitgate 2update for July 2025, and the major patch 1.2 welcomes Ranked Arena, Weapon Mastery Skins, and much more.Splitgate 2first launched at the beginning of June and is a free-to-play first-person shooter. Serving as a successor to the 2019 game of the same name, players are split into three factions, Aeros, Meridian, and Sabrask, and utilize the game’s portals to traverse the map and target enemies.
Splitgate 2has accumulated an impressive player base growthsince its beta, due in part to the success the shooter found on consoles, and gamers love the title’s fast-paced combat in particular. Despite hosting a successful beta, the shooter suffered a bout of backlash recently regarding its expensive microtransactions. However, in a bid to prioritize players’ feedback, the in-game costs were halved shortly after criticism rose.
1047 releasedSplitgate 2’s largest update yet in patch 1.2, and one of the main takeaways from the additional content is Ranked Area, which players will need to unlock with 100,000 XP first. The update offers a “more intense, higher stakes” version of Splitball, Firecracker, and Hotzone, and new Weapon Mastery Challenges are the gateway to three tiers of weapon skins, which are bound to enhanceSplitgate 2’s already stacked list of stellar weapons, including the Goliath, Trailblazer, and Blitz. Furthermore, the patch also brings the Season 1 Chapter 2 Battle Pass, packed with additional cosmetics, such as character and weapon skins, emotes, player card banners, and much more.
In addition to sharingbeginner tips and tricks within theSplitgate 2community, fans have applauded the recent patch for being a significant update, noting it as a “sign of great things ahead.” One recommendation several players shared, however, was the addition of in-game statistics, so players can keep track of how many headshots, medals, etc, they have accumulated.
The current 1.2 update is part of the previously revealedSplitgate 2content roadmap, which promised a litany of content for players this year. While the devs promised (and delivered) monthly map releases, new game modes, weekly playlist updates, and more for Summer 2025, the team has a lot more in store beyond. More weapons, maps, modes, skins, and events have yet to be announced, and the devs also highlighted that more surprises are coming up in the year ahead as well.
