Saber Interactive continues refiningWarhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2and has now released patch 9.0, bringing a whole bunch of balancing tweaks in both PVP and PVE.Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2’s “Quality of Life Update” also introduces adjustments to address some stability issues and game crashes.
Warhammer 40k: Space Marine 2has been a smash hit, enjoying tremendous success since its release. Although it saw some backlash over certain updates, it still boasts a “Mostly Positive” rating on Steam. In June,Space Marine 2reached over seven million copies sold globally, further reaffirming the game’s strength and players’ satisfaction with the sequel. Even though Saber already has plans forSpace Marine 3—with the game officially announced earlier this year—the developer has kept its word to continue improvingSpace Marine 2.
Now, Saber has released patch 9.0, which practically buffs almost a third of allSpace Marine 2’s weapons, including PVE melee and firearm weapons. With this patch, the developer wanted to rework all melee weapons, updating their progression to “streamline the experience.” Now, balanced weapons deliver moderate damage and speed, fencing weapons are the fastest, though they feature the lowest damage, and block weapons have the highest damage but the slowest speed.
Saber has noted that all firearms are currently balanced and fairly usable, but some weapon versions are underused or feel too similar, and the patch improves those versions and boosts stat differences to make each choice “more meaningful.” These changes include a spread reduction, a recoil reduction, and an increase to the headshot damage coefficient for a huge number of weapons.
Additionally,Space Marine 2’s class perkshave also been updated, with major changes to the Assault and Heavy perks. For instance, the Winged Fury perk has been reworked and now increases by 100% the damage from melee attacks made while sprinting or dashing; while the Thermal Boost perk now gives players +15% ranged damage when their gun is either half overheated or has half its magazine left.
Space Marine 2’s Siege Modeshop saw some balance tweaks as well, and now things cost a little less, including the Guardian relic, Armor Kit, Dreadnought, and Guardsman. Patch 9.0 also makes a bunch of fixes across areas like AI, customization, and tech, including improvements to matchmaking and network stability. The update is already live, and players can hop onSpace Marine 2and try out all these new changes.
