South Park Season 27’s Premiere Date Has Been Delayed By Two Weeks
Deadlinereported thatSouth Parkseason 27 won’t premiere on July 9th, 2025 as originally planned. Instead, the new season will premiere on July 23rd, 2025.
The two-week delay comes amid current negotiations and complications overSouth Park’s streaming rights. While Max owned the streaming rights toSouth Park, the deal expired in late June 2025. Although viewers expectedpast episodes ofSouth Parkto become available on Paramount+ on July 1st, that wasn’t the case. Netflix and Warner Bros. Discovery have tried to purchase the rights, and at the time of this writing, it’s unclear if the show will end up on Paramount+. Deadline reported that several streaming services might end up getting the non-exclusive streaming rights.
There’s another part of this story, too:the merger between Skydance Media and Paramount Global, who own Comedy Central. As reported byVariety, although the announcement of the merger came last summer, the FCC hasn’t approved of it yet. Since the deal is supposed to be done by July 7th, 2025, fans are curious about which streamer they’ll be able to watchSouth Parkon. For now, past seasons are still on HBO Max.

The X post reads, “In response to the press release from Comedy Central about the change in premiere date for ‘South Park’ Trey Parker and Matt Stone said – ‘This merger is a sht show and it’s fcking up “South Park.” The post continued:
“We are at the studio working on new episodes and we hope the fans get to see them somehow.”‘
