Solo Levelinghas shaken the anime world with its stunning popularity over the last few months. This series is based on a manhwa which itself is based on a light novel, and fans have been absolutely obsessed with it, so much so that it was even crowned Anime of the Year during the Crunchyroll Awards.
The biggest selling point ofSolo Levelingis, of course, Jinwoo. Although he started weak,he is now very powerful, and this is in part thanks to his ability to turn the deceased into Shadows. He has amassed quite a good army, but unfortunately, over the span of the series, he missed some powerful people he could have added.
Sung Jinwoo is a Powerful Protagonist
He Has Acquired Many Strong Shadows Over The Course of the Series
Sung Jinwoo has become a widely beloved character among anime fans, and this is largely due to how he started as a weakling yet went on to surpass all others. His voracious appetite sees to it that he never stops growing, and that’s what fans absolutely love about him. Jinwon was especially different after his visit to the Double Dungeon. There, he almost died, but ultimately ended up being chosen by the system and unlocked the ability to level up. After leveling up enough,he became the Shadow Monarch. This granted him his most iconic ability, allowing him to turn the dead into his subordinate shadows.
So far, in the anime, he has acquired quite a decent army, the first of them being Igris. He has also acquired other Shadows such as Tusk, Tank, Kaisel, and Iron. His most recent shadow, Beru, is one of the strongest.
He acquires more in the Manhwa, but for now, he has built a one-man army that can take down most foes.
While he certainly is very impressive, Jinwoo’s army could have been even stronger had he turned these individuals into shadows as well.
Goto Ryuji is a Prime Example
Jinwoo, for the most part, turns monsters into his shadows after defeating them, but he also sometimes turns humans into his shadow soldiers. Two examples of this are Iron and Greed.
Greed, as a human, was known as Hwang Dongsoo, an S-Rank Hunter. Jinwoo has definitely had other opportunities to turn more S-Rank Hunters into shadows, but chose not to. This was specifically in the Jeju Island arc, where many Japanese S-Rank Hunters fell prey to the Ants.
Specifically, Goto Ryuji would have been a perfect pick forJinwoo to turn into a Shadowas he was a bit stronger than the average S-Rank Hunter, being known as Japan’s strongest.
While it’s not specified in the Manhwa, in the light novel, Ryuji’s body was eaten by the Ant King. So in the novel, this could not have been possible. Still, turning other S Rank Hunters into shadows would significantly strengthen him.
