How To Start Roll, Roll, Roll Your Onigiri in Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma
To start Roll, Roll, Roll Your Onigiri quest inRune Factory: Guardians of Azuma, follow the beach aroundSummer Shoreson theSummer Region mapuntil you reach thesmall slope near the Open Pavilion Dragon Statue, as pictured on the map above.
On approaching, a cutscene triggers, showing you and Woolby talking to a villager about the strange, singing hole in the ground, followed by the option to roll something inside. Specifically, you’ll need tomake an Onigiri, and then feed it to the hole, which you can do by selecting the Onigiri recipe in the inventory menu that appears when interacting with the hole.
Afterfeeding the hole Onigiri, you’ll get a reward when choosingbetween a big or little basketandunlocking the Roll, Roll, Roll Your Onigiri quest, categorized as an Azuma side quest in the game. Subsequent Roll, Roll, Roll Your Onigiri spots will then ask for a specific Onigiri recipe.
Big Basket Vs. Little Basket Choice
Unlike otherbig decisions inRune Factory: Guardians of Azuma, the only difference between choosing the big or little basket iswhat secondary reward you getat each Onigiri location. If you select the big basket at the Summer Region location that triggers the quest, you’ll getStrong Thread, but picking thelittle basketgives youthree pieces of Silver. However, whichever basket you choose, you’ll still receive theButter Roll Recipeas the primary reward (a level 1 cooking recipe made from flour and butter).
At each Roll, Roll, Your Onigiri quest Location, you’ll also get the chance to choose from more little and big baskets for your reward, the only difference being which secondary reward you get, as detailed in the table further below.

There are several Onigiri Recipes you need to make to complete Roll, Roll, Roll Your Onigiri inRune Factory: Guardians of Azuma, which require the following ingredients to make once you’ve unlocked each recipe:
Greatest Grilled Onigiri
While most of the above Onigiri recipes are somewhat straightforward to unlock, some are a little trickier to find. To get theMiso Onigiri recipe, you’ll need to activate thesmall frog statueon the group of islands opposite Summer Shoresand the Open Pavilion dragon save statue in theSummer Region map. However, to reach the frog statue, you need touse the Sacred Parosolon the wind current, a Sacred Treasure you unlock when reaching Winter Village.
To get theGreatest Grilled Onigiri recipe, you’ll need to reachlevel 6 friendship with Matsurito unlock the ability tocook together. Afterward, head to Iroha’s Teahouse or any Teahouse, thenchoose the Grilled Onigiri recipe tocook together with Matsuri, which should have a chef’s hat icon indicating it leads to aunique recipe. After cooking the Grilled Onigiri recipe with Matsuri, you’ll automatically unlock the Greatest Grilled Onigiri recipe, a unique recipe that you can then cook using Onigiri and Soy Sauce.
Although you can cook Onigiri, it’s also possible to collect basic Onigiri near shrines across Azuma. Like other recipes in the game, you can cook Onigiri at bonfires in addition to Teahouses. There is also a cooking station to unlock at the main Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter Village Shrine once you’ve fixed the roof.
