Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man Trilogy Will Be In Theaters Again In September 2025
Varietyreported thatSam Raimi’sSpider-Mantrilogy will be re-released in theaters in September 2025. Spider-Man will be screened on September 26th, 2025, andSpider-Man 2.1will be screened on September 27th, 2025. Then, the third movie will be screened on September 28th, 2025. If fans miss out the first time,they can watch all three movies on October 3rd, October 4th, and October 5th. Sony Pictures and Fathom Entertainment are working on the screenings together. The screenings are part of Fathom Fan Favorites which have included theatrical screenings ofThe Sound of Music,One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest,Clueless,Rocky VI,Sunset Boulevard, andIndiana Jones and the Last Crusade. Since it’s been several decades since fans sawMaguire’s portrayal of the superhero in Raimi’s trilogy, it’ll be a fun and nostalgic experience.
This would be exciting enough, but there’s also some great news: audiences will get to seea 4K version ofSpider-MancalledSpider-Man 2.1that has scenes fans haven’t seen before and is an extended cut.
The superhero has a long history in Hollywood, and fans have a lot ofthoughts about the way the character has been portrayed. After Macguire played Peter Parker/Spider-Man in the 2002 film, a sequel followed in 2004, andSpider-Man 3was released in 2007. Kirsten Dunst played his love interest Mary Jane Watson and Willem Dafoe played evil scientist Norman Osborn/The Green Goblin. Rosemary Harris and Cliff Robertson rounded out the cast as Peter’s charming aunt and uncle. WhileSpider-Man 4was in the works, it didn’t end up happening. “It was a very painful experience for me. I wanted to make a Spider-Man movie to redeem myself for that. [The aborted]Spider-Man 4— that was really whatthatwas about. I wanted to go out on a high note. I didn’t want to just make another one that pretty much worked. I had a really high standard in my mind. And I didn’t think I could get that script to the level that I was hoping for by that start date.”
