Update 0.8.0forRuneScape: Dragonwildsis now live on Steam as of June 17, adding new in-game content and settings for players to experiment with. As the name implies, the “It’s a Kind of Magic” update introduces the Magic Skill, which adds two new Skill Spells and can be leveled up to 50. The update also includes multiple improvements and tweaks tobuilding and crafting inRuneScape: Dragonwilds, such as changes to individual building pieces' health values, an oak visual treatment for higher-tier buildings, and visible wear and tear on buildings once they’ve taken sufficient damage.

The “It’s a Kind of Magic” update also adds the previously teasedHardcore difficulty forRuneScape: Dragonwildsfor players looking for an added challenge. In Hardcore, enemies both deal and take more damage, which presents an extra layer of danger, since Hardcore players lose all items and XP progression should they die without recovering their gravestone. For players looking for a more relaxing gameplay experience, the new Coziness system adjusts how quickly the survival meter depletes while near a claimed bed, allowing for longer crafting sessions before resting.

AlthoughRuneScape: Dragonwildsmay not be exactly like the classicRuneScapeexperience longtime fans have grown accustomed to, the Jagex team has shown a strong commitment to consistently and incrementally improving upon the early-access title with each new update. Even with the inclusion of long-requested features like the new Magic Skill and Hardcore difficulty, the “It’s a Kind of Magic” update is a relatively small one compared tolater updates forRuneScape: Dragonwildsthat have already been teased by the developer. If the dev team continues to consider player feedback and churn out new additions,RuneScape: Dragonwildscould shape up to be a solid experience once it exits early access.
