REPOhas released “The Museum Update,” its first major patch, bringing a bunch of new content for players along with changes and balance adjustments. While developer Semiwork Studios had said the update would release soon, fans didn’t have a specific date to look forward to, and the update was surprise-dropped today, June 26, for allREPOplayers.
REPO—short for Retrieve, Extract, and Profit Operation—is a cooperative online survival horror indie game that was released in early access earlier in 2025 and quickly became a hit.REPOis extremely popular on Steam, where it boasts an “Overwhelmingly Positive" rating thanks to its fun and chaotic co-op gameplay. In it, players can team up with up to six others to retrieve several items scattered across a procedurally generated map where monsters lurk and try to kill the players. The game blends physics-based mechanics with comedic horror elements, requiring players to coordinate and communicate through its proximity voice chat feature. Now, the game is getting its first major update.
In a recent Q&A video, Semiwork had teased the content that thenew bigREPOupdate would feature, though the developer kept the specific release date under wraps. Luckily, players didn’t have to wait long, as “The Museum Update” has just been released as a surprise alongside a short trailer highlighting some of the most important additions in the patch.
The update’s highlight is the Museum of Human Art, a whole newREPOmap packed with new challenges. Additionally, the game now features a Server List and Random Matchmaking, which will streamline things for players and hopefully improve lag issues, as they can now pick their server region. To ramp up the difficulty, the update also adds “Moon Phases,” which will complicate things for players while introducing effects like “Overcharge.” A few useful features have also been added to help with game management, such as an option to kick players from the level, lobby passwords to prevent strangers from joining private games, and other handy tools like a button to mute or unmute the microphone.
As previously teased by Semiwork, The Museum Update has added a bunch ofnew items toREPO, including the Pulse Pistol, Photon Blaster, Duck Bucket, C.A.R.T. Cannon, and more. Moreover, the Crouch Rest and the Tumble Wings have received upgrades, and Extraction Points now highlight valuable items at risk of being destroyed. In addition to new content, the developer has also detailed a long list of changes and fixes across almost every area ofREPO, all aiming to significantly improve this co-op indie hit’s gameplay.
