Moon Phasesare more than just visual changes inREPO. They’re a core gameplay mechanic that ramps up the difficulty of thissurvival horror game. As you level up, the Moon Phases change and introduce harsher conditions, making enemies stronger, tools less effective, and your usual strategies harder to rely on.
If you want to survive, you’ll need to understand exactly what each Moon Phase changes and how to adjust your strategies. This guide breaks down each Moon Phase in detail and covers strategies to help you and your team survive inREPO.
What Are Moon Phases in REPO?
Starting atLevel 5, the game begins applying Moon Phase effects that change every five levels. This means that at levels 5, 10, 15, 20, and above, you’ll face new mechanics that increase the difficulty. Each new phase stacks changes on top of the last, making monsters stronger, introducing new hazards, and altering existing mechanics to make your mission harder.
You’ll have to deal with things like:
Since these aren’t optional challenges, you’ll need to adapt fast, especially insoloREPOruns.
Types of Moon Phases
At the time of writing, there are onlyfourMoon PhasesinREPO. While the selection is limited for now, future updates will introduce more phases. The four Moon Phases currently available are:
You can see the current Moon Phase in the game’s escape menu. It’s a good idea to stay aware of the current Moon Phase as it helps you prepare for the challenges ahead.
All REPO Moon Phases, Explained
The following sections explain all the Moon Phases inREPOand the difficulties they introduce.
Crescent Moon (Level 5)
The first Moon Phase is the Crescent Moon. It marks the beginning of REPO’s real difficulty curve. Two main things change here:
If you haven’t unlocked any weapons yet, stealth remains your best strategy. Stick to the shadows, avoid unnecessary fights, and focus on survival.
Half Moon (Level 10)
At Level 10, the Half Moon phase rises, increasing the intensity of your runs. The Half Moon introducesOvercharge, a mechanic that punishes holding onto monsters too long with your grabber.
When you try to lift a monster using your grabber, a charge meter begins to fill based on the creature’s weight and your currentstrength level. If the meter maxes out, you’ll beknocked back, drop the monster, andstunned, leaving you vulnerable. you may counter this byupgrading your strengthand purchasing weapons to defeat monsters directly.
TIP
Inmultiplayer, Overcharge builds up more slowly when multiple players lift the same monster.
Another major change is howpits affect monsters. Previously, tossing an enemy into a pit meant an instant kill. Now, monsters will takeheavy damage, butcan surviveif they have high enough health.
In addition to this, thetruck healeris nerfed again. After completing the final extraction, it now only restores25 healthinstead of 35 or 50 from previous phases. This makes healing resources and upgrades more important than ever.
Full Moon (Level 15)
At Level 15, the Full Moon phase begins. It doesn’t introduce any new mechanics, but subtly increases the overall difficulty by tweaking the existing system. As such, players need to refine their strategies.
TheOverchargemechanic becomes more punishing. Your grabber now fills its overcharge meter25% fasterwhen lifting monsters. You’ll have even less time to carry enemies before gettingstunned and knocked back. This makes brute-forcing pickups much riskier, especially without strength upgrades.
Pit damage is reduced even further. Smallermonsters inREPOmay still die on impact, but larger ones will usually survive.
Start treating pits as tools for crowd control rather than guaranteed kills. Use them for weak enemies, and save your ammo or explosives for the bigger threats.
Super Moon (Level 20+)
TheSuper Moonis the most intense and punishing Moon Phase inREPO. It activates atLevel 20and continues into all higher levels. Every mechanic introduced in earlier phases hits its peak in the Super Moon Phase.
Your grabber’sOverchargefills up50% faster, drastically limiting how long you can hold onto monsters before being stunned and thrown back. By now, upgrading your strength and avoiding unnecessary grabs is critical.
The Super Moon also introduces a dramatic twist:enemy orbs now explode upon destruction. These once-valuable resources have becomefragile explosives, making them dangerous to carry or accidentally drop. If you’re too close when one pops, you or ateammate will take damage.
