Developer VOID Interactive has responded to the recent wave of negative reviewsReady or Nothas received, following its announcement that the console version would feature censored content.Ready or Notis coming out on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S on July 15, and players have expressed their dissatisfaction with some of the changes VOID has announced—and now the developer is clarifying its previous statement.
Ready or Notis a tactical first-person shooter where players step into the role of a SWAT team commander, engaging in high-stakes operations such as hostage rescues, bomb threats, and drug busts. It was initially launched in early access in December 2021, with a full release in December 2023, which received very positive reviews on Steam. In April 2025, VOID revealed whenReady or Notwould launch on PS5 and Xbox. However, ahead of its release, the developer announced that this version would feature some changes—including a reduction of nudity, torture, and child mistreatment—and clarified that these changes would also affect the PC version. The news didn’t please players, prompting them to review-bomb the game. Now, VOID has released a new announcement about the game’s changes.
VOID Interactive has clarified itsprevious statement regardingReady or Notcontent changes, saying that there have been some “misconceptions and misinformation” about what these changes entail. The developer emphasized that the adjustments fully preserve the game’s original tone, themes, and intensity. In order to ensure that players understand the scope of the changes, VOID shared some before-and-after visuals, arguing that the game’s atmosphere is still respected after the changes, and that “the effects of gore and violence,” which players were afraid would disappear, “have not been toned down.”
Ready or Not Before and After Visual Comparisons
Notably, VOID said that someReady or Notmissionshave not been changed at all, including Elephant, Neon Tomb, and Valley of the Dolls. Moreover, VOID listed the six changes that the PC version of the game has undergone, which include some adjustments to the Twisted Nerve, A Lethal Obsession, Hide and Seek, Narcos, and 23 Megabytes a Second missions. Additionally, post-mortem dismemberment was disabled, though this can still be done to living characters.
In the statement, VOID reaffirmed its commitment to delivering “experiences that push boundaries in the service of immersion and realism,” but it also explained that, unfortunately, the studio needs to adapt to global legal restrictions. VOID explained that it only makes these kinds of changes when they are “absolutely required,” though that doesn’t change its creative vision or values. It remains to be seen if the developer’s reassurances will be enough to address theconcerns of upsetReady or Notplayers.
