Summary
The Sims 4is primarily a life simulator, but that doesn’t mean death isn’t a part of the fun. Since the firstThe Simsgame, players have been fascinated by the bizarre and unexpected ways the Grim Reaper can visit their Sims andThe Sims 4continues to expand that delightfully dark legacy.
Each expansion pack introduces creative ways for Sims to meet their untimely end, and triggering these unusual deaths is a sure wayto keep gameplay interesting. From pranks gone wrong to killer Murphy beds,The Sims 4includes some extremely odd deaths, but some are far rarer than others.

There are other uncommon events, such as the Beetle Juice and Wishing Well ‘deaths’, that aren’t included in this list because they don’t result in a typical death. Affected Sims are instantly transformed into playable Ghosts without the appearance of the Grim Reaper and remain in the household.
10Murder Of Crows
A Macabre Death By Pecking
There are a surprising number of animal-triggered deaths inThe Sims 4, and the Life & Deathexpansion pack adds one more one to the list: death by murder of crows. The pack allows players to purchase an immortal pet crow which can turn deadly when repeatedly provoked.
A mistreated crow’s eyes will glow red before they aggressively attack and peck the Sim to death. Thankfully, it will take a lot of tries to get a Crow to this point, so with a bit of care, Simmers can easily avoid this grim outcome while still enjoying their new gothic companions.

9Pufferfish Nigiri Poisoning
A Dangerously Deadly Sushi Dish
TheCity Living expansion pack addedbig-city metropolitan life toThe Sims 4,and with it, came one of the most uncommon deaths, triggered by badly made sushi.
Found at a San Myshuno food stall, the Pufferfish Nigiri recipe has the potential to be lethal. If a Sim with poor cooking skills happens to prepare the dish, they can produce a low-quality Pufferfish Nigiri which has a 50-percent chance of triggering death by poisoning, making it a coin toss with death. This rare event can unfold as a tragic accident or can be a calculated move when in the hands of the wrong Sim.

8Stink Capsule
Pranked to Death (Teen Sims Only)
The High School Years expansion pack brought manynew experiences for teen Sims, including two strange deaths. One of them involves a classic high school prank gone wrong.
The pack allows teens with a high enough Mischief level to plant a stink bomb in trash cans or lockers. However, the Stink Capsuel has the possibility of backfiring, and if it does, the Sim can fall victim to their own prank and become overwhelmed by its toxic gas, making for a pretty unpleasant way to kick the bucket. Teenagers must repeatedly have the prank backfire in order to die from being ‘self-stinked’.

7Urban Myth
A Truly Haunting Legend (Teen Sims Only)
High School Yearsgrants mischievous teens the ability to prank another Sim by summoning a spooky Urban Myth. The interaction prompts the Sim to hold a mirror in front of them and another unsuspecting Sim, attempting to spook them with the Bloody Mary-style legend.
But the prank doesn’t always go as planned; there’s a chance the legend may come true. If the prankster Sim accidentally scares themselves and then repeats the prank, they can actually die from the Urban Myth. The rare death triggers a unique and creepy animation that longtimeSimsfans will appreciate.

6Motherplant Attack
Consumed By a Mysterious Entity
Strangerville is one of the few packs that comes withits own unique storyline. Sims in the mysterious desert town can investigate the unusual happenings and weird townies, eventually uncovering an abandoned laboratory housing a hidden danger.
The final boss-style fight involves Sims confronting an entity known as the Motherplant deep in the Secret Lab. If they enter the battle unprepared or without backup, Sims may end up being consumed by the monstrous plant, violently dying without even getting a chance to meet the Grim Reaper.

5Rabid Rodent Fever
A Cute Companion Turns Deadly
My First Pet Stuff Pack may seem like one of the cutest and most innocent DLCs, but it adds a pretty unsettling way for Sims to meet their maker.
If a Sims owns a pet rodent and fails to keep its cage clean, the pet may bite the Sim and infect them with a nasty illness known asRabid Rodent Fever. If left untreated, the fever will eventually spiral into a life-threatening, highly contagious disease and infected Sims will grow visibly sicker until they perish. In trueThe Simsfashion, Sims who succumb to this illness will live on in the afterlife in a giant hamster costume, cursed to haunt fellow Sims in fluffy shame.
4Chicken Or Rabbit Attack
Vengeful Farm Animals Can Bite Back
Players of the incredibly cozy Cottage Living expansion pack may be surprised to know that their cute little farm animals can become unexpectedly hostile.
Cottage Living adds six animals toThe Sims 4, including chickens and wild rabbits. While usually harmless, both chickens and rabbits can become ferocious if repeatedly provoked through mean or mischievous interactions. Most of the time, Sims will walk away from these attacks with only a bruised ego, but there is a rare chance the encounter proves fatal, triggering either a Death by Killer Chicken or Death by Killer Rabbit. These brutal ends serve as a harsh reminder for Sims to treat their furry friends with respect.
3Death Flower Scent
A Silent Killer (Elderly Sims Only)
The Death Flower isa classic Sims item. The rare flower is typically used to bargain with the Grim Reaper and revive dead Sims, but with the Seasons expansion pack, it can become lethal when used to scent floral arrangements.
Creating this poisonous bouquet takes time and effort, requiring high-level gardening and flower-arranging skills, but once crafted, it acts as a silent weapon when gifted. The scent ages up any Sim, but for elderly Sims, who are already in the final stage of life, the effect is fatal, causing them to instantly drop dead. It is one of the few ways to directly kill another Sim and one of the rarestTheSims 4deaths in general.
2Falling From Heights
A Deadly Mountain Misstep
Snowy Escape did a tremendous job at adding lots of fun experiences for thrill-seeking Sims, though gamers might be shocked to discover that one of them has the potential to end in disaster.
A social event unlocked with this pack allows Sims to go on Mountain Climbing Excursion, with the ultimate goal of summiting Mt. Komorebi. The thing is, bad conditions or lack of climbing gear can make it risky. If the Sim loses their grip when high enough, they can actually fall to their death. While it is hard to trigger, this dramatic accident adds real danger to thelighthearted adventures that Snowy Escapepromises.
1Swarm of Flies
A Gruesome End By Garbage
TheEco Lifestyle expansion pack established systems for sustainable living inThe Sims 4,but with them came a new threat.
The pack added theReduce and Recycle Lot Trait, meaning outdoor trash cans are no longer bottomless and must be actively managed by Sims, or trash will accumulate.
Overflowing garbage cans and dumpsters can attract flies. Sims can attempt to either clear or befriend the flies, but if they keep failing, there’s a chance they may become swarmed by the flies and eaten alive. It’s a shockingly gruesome way for Sims to go out, though fortunately, it’s extremely rare.
