While the first two games were more realistic,Project Cars 3is a more arcade-style affair, with easier mechanics making it a more welcoming choice for gamers. Despite winning Best Simulation Game at Gamescom 2020, player feedback was mixed, with many criticizing its Career Mode and rampant technical issues. A notice posted on theProject Cars 3Steam pagehas confirmed that the game will be delisted from digital sale on August 24. Those who have already purchased the game digitally will still be able to redownload and play it after this date, and the title’s online modes will remain active until Jul 14, 2025. Additionally, any DLCs purchased before August 24 will still be available to use afterProject Cars 3is removed from sale.BothProject CarsandProject Cars 2were delistedin late 2022 due to expiring track and car licenses, which may also be the reason why the third entry will no longer be available to purchase.

In November 2022, it was confirmed thattheProject Carsfranchise would end, with EA stopping all development and investment related to the series to focus more intensely on one of its many other racing titles. Unfortunately, this meant that the plannedProject Cars 4was canceled, which promised to return to the series' roots as a more realistic racing simulator. Former Slightly Mad Studios CEO Ian Bell called out EA after the franchise’s shutdown, accusing the company of caring more about profit than the people behind the games and their families.
While this is disappointing news for theProject Carsseries, another racing franchise has stolen the spotlight in 2025. Shockingly, the former Xbox exclusiveForza Horizon 5is the PS5’s best-selling gamethis year so far, selling over three million units on the platform since its leap to Sony’s hardware in April. Even more racing titles are slated to be released sometime in 2025, includingEndurance Motorsport SeriesandProject Motor Racing.
