Summary

In the current Elbaf Arc ofOne Piece,it has been stated multiple times that Prince Loki ate a legendary Devil Fruit that is so powerfulit allegedly made him kill his father, King Harald, just to obtain it. While the exact nature of his powers still hasn’t been revealed within the story, this revelation has inevitably fueled a lot of speculation among fans.

Loki is a very fascinating but intriguing character, so many fans can’t help but wonder: Which power did his mysterious Devil Fruit grant him? Needless to say, there are a lot of different possibilities, but the following theories are the most likely and promising ones so far.

Luffy using Gomu Gomu no Pistol on the Lord of the Coast - One Piece

1Rubber Body

Did He Eat The Real Gomu Gomu No Mi?

One of the most mind-blowing plot twists in the history ofOne Piecewas the revelation that, after literal decades of thinking Monkey D. Luffy wielded the rubber-based powers of Gomu Gomu no Mi,he had actually eaten a Mythical Zoan Devil Fruit named the Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika. As exciting as this plot twist was, it also left fans with one big question: What happened to the realGomu Gomu no Mi?

In the Egghead Arc, Doctor Vegapunk stated that Devil Fruits were born out of humanity’s desires, meaning that a regular Rubber Paramecia should still exist somewhere in the world. Another interesting thing to note is that many Giants of Elbaf, including Loki himself, worship the Sun God, whose body supposedly had stretchy powers. Maybe he ate the Gomu Gomu no Mi thinking it was the Nika Devil Fruit, and now he can stretch his own body in a similar way to Luffy.

Loki summoning lightning with Ragnir - One Piece

2Weather Manipulation

Loki still hasn’t had the opportunity to participate in an actual battle, but at one point during the Elbaf Arc, he showcased his incredible weapon,a giant warhammer calledRagnirthat can summon potent lightning strikes whenever he swings it. While this impressive ability is an obvious reference to Thor, the god of thunder from Norse mythology, it is unknown if it’s tied to the weapon or if it was caused by a Devil Fruit he previously ate.

Of course, it’s impossible that Loki ate a Logia that lets him turn into electricity, since the Goro Goro no Mi was eaten by Enel (who is still alive), but it’s also possible that he ate a Paramecia that allows him to summon and manipulate the weather, specifically lightning and thunder. This would be a dangerous ability that is worthy of being deemed “forbidden” and “legendary.”

Loki uses illusions to turn into Odin - Thor: The Dark World

3Illusion Making

Perhaps He’s Living Up To His Namesake After All

Elbaf is filled to the brim with references to Norse mythology, and Loki is no exception: Ragnir and its ability to summon lightning are obvious references to Thor, and Loki himself is named after the infamous trickster god. So, what if his Devil Fruit powers are tied to his namesake?

According to Norse mythology, Loki is able to shapeshift and make illusions. While a shapeshifting Devil Fruit (Bon Clay’s Mane Mane no Mi) already exists inOne Piece, it’s possible that Loki ate a Paramecia that allows him to create lifelike illusions he can use to trick others, similarly to how Loki’s illusions work in the Marvel comic books and the MCU. If that’s the case, maybe these powers are somehow related to the crime that he claims he didn’t commit.

Fenrir among other Nightmare monsters - One Piece

4A Fenrir Zoan

What If He Can Turn Into The Monstrous Wolf From Norse Mythology?

When the young students of Walrus School mentioned what some of their deepest fears are(which Rimoshifu Killingham later turned into dream monsters with his Kirin powers), it was revealed that Elbaf’s mythology shares even more similarities with the Norse mythology of the real world. For example, the legend of the giant wolfFenrirseemingly exists inOne Piece.

In Norse mythology, Fenrir is a monstrous wolf who plays a key role during Ragnarök and is foretold to set the world on fire, so maybe Loki ate the Inu Inu no Mi, Model: Fenrir, and as a result, can turn into this legendary canine. This would explain why the Devil Fruit he ate has such an infamous reputation in his country, but there’s also no denying that the powers of a Fenrir Zoan would be very useful in the upcoming fight against the God’s Knights.

Franky finds the mural in Elbaf - One Piece

5A Jormungandr Zoan

What If He Can Turn Into The Famous World Serpent Of Legend?

Jormungandr, the famous World Serpent from Norse mythology, is another legend that is feared by the Giant kids of Walrus School. What’s especially interesting is that the ancient mural of Chapter 1138 also depicts a giant snake in the “first world,” not to mention that the Harley even mentions a “serpent of infernal flames.”

There are many things that not only hint at the existence of Jormungandr in theOne Pieceworld, but also that the legendary serpent is so powerful that it played a key role in the destruction of the “first world.” Considering that Nika, who was also depicted in the aforementioned mural, has a Devil Fruit named after them,it’s always possible that there’s a Hebi Hebi no Mi, Model: Jormungandr and Loki ate it, meaning that now he’s able to turn into the “serpent of infernal flames.”

Lily Enstomach is small enough to fit in a glass bottle - One Piece

6Size-Changing Powers

Maybe There’s A Way For Him To Fit In The Thousand Sunny After All

In Chapter 1152, Luffy asked Loki to join his crew, which naturally fueled even more speculation among fans on whether he will join the Straw Hat Pirates or not. However, one of the main points against this idea is the fact that Loki is a Giant with Ancient Giant heritage, and thus, he’s so big that he hypothetically wouldn’t even fit in the Thousand Sunny. However, there’s a workaround for this issue. What if he ate a Devil Fruit that allows him tochange sizes?

This may sound absurd or goofy at first, but size is a key part of the Giants’ identity, so the ability to make himself smaller would be controversial among his peers. On top of that, another Giant,Sanjuan Wolf from the Blackbeard Pirates, has already eaten a Devil Fruit that allows him to make himself even bigger(the Deka Deka no Mi), but maybe Loki ate its counterpart that allows him to make himself small, similarly to the non-canon Mini Mini no Mi.
