Ahead of the game’s fourth anniversary,Pokemon Uniterevealed that the Theia Sky Ruins map would see significant updates to shake up competitive play. Alongside the Theia Sky Ruins changes,Pokemon Unitewill bring in more Mega Evolutions and more creatures throughout the rest of 2025, with two playable Pokemon introduced each month through the fall and early winter.

The news came asPokemon Unitelaunched its fourth anniversary update, whichintroduced the Eon Pokemon Latiosas a playable character. Latios is considered an Attacker in Pokemon Unite, with access to moves like Draco Meteor and Luster Purge, along with a way to fly directly to its counterpart, Latias, if both Eon Pokemon are on the same team. An event to earn Latios' Unite License runs from July 18 to August 7, with another event dedicated to Latias starting immediately after. Latias will be available as a Support Pokemon at a later date.

Along with the addition of two legendary creatures,Pokemon Unitewill continue making major changes throughout 2025. According to aLetter from the Producer forum post, thePokemon Unitedevelopment team stated that the Theia Sky Ruins map will see a major change that could alter the way ranked matches are played. A future update will replace Rayquaza withanother iconic Legendary Pokemonfrom the Hoenn region, as Groudon will become the map’s main objective in a future update. The team that lands a finishing blow on Groudon will get a buff that increases attack power and goal-scoring speed for a short time. However, this buff can be stolen by other players who knock out a Pokemon on the team that defeated Groudon, which can give teams a final chance to claim victory in a close battle.

Additionally,more Mega Evolutionswill be introduced inPokemon Uniteas a way to celebrate the October launch ofPokemon Legends: Z-A. While Mega Mewtwo X and Mega Mewtwo Y are already inPokemon Unite, it remains to be seen if other Mega forms like Mega Gardevoir or Mega Charizard Z will be included.Pokemon Unitealso confirmed that it will release two new playable Pokemon per month, from September to December 2025, along with more creatures planned to arrive in 2026 and beyond.

Between the game’s fourth anniversary, andthe upcoming Pokemon Presents broadcast on July 22,Pokemon Uniteshows no signs of slowing down. It remains to be seen which new Pokemon will make their way toPokemon Unite.
