With Eevee Grove being the second small expansion after the release of Celestial Guardians, now is the perfect time for a big change, and while the pace at which new sets are being released is far from optimal, fans can look forward to a new expansion soon.Pokemon TCG Pocketjust launched the summer event today, which adds a lot of new rewards for players to collect over the span of the next 12 days.
This is perfect timing, as leaks surroundingPokemon TCG Pocket’s next setpaint a clear picture for its release date, and it’s very soon. Ever since December of last year,Pokemon TCG Pockethas been releasing a new expansion every month, which makes it pretty hard to keep up with all the cards and possible meta combinations for competitive battles. Unsurprisingly, this means that July 2025 will have yet another set release, and datamines all point to July 30 for its release date, which lines up perfectly with the current summer event.
Pokemon TCG Pocket’s Next Update is Already Clear
Not a lot is currently known about the nextupdate forPokemon TCG Pocket. However, the following is all but confirmed by now:
Extradimensional Crisisis labeled as A3a, and Eevee Grove as A3b, meaning that A4 is a whole new expansion.
Since this confirms that the next expansion is going to be an entirely new one, there are various possibilities about where the game could go next. This includes past rumors that haven’t been proven correct in the past, but could still hold some truth for the future.
Predicting Pokemon TCG Pocket’s Next Update
With this in mind, it’s important to analyze the context of each release so far. Genetic Apex is a Gen-1 set for the most part, and its mini-expansion, Mythical Island, is mostly themed around Mew and Celebi, rather than a specific region or generation of critters. Space-Time Smackdown and Triumphant Light are all about Gen 4, whereas Shining Revelry is a standalone mini-set that only partly continues the trend of Gen 4 with the addition of Giratina Ex. Celestial Guardians and Extradimensional Crisis are both about Gen 7, withEevee Grovebeing another themed booster pack that is mostly self-contained.
This means that only three generations of games have been properly explored inPokemon TCG Pocket, with them being Gen 1, Gen 4, and Gen 7. There were rumors before Celestial Guardians came out that the set would have three boosters and be about Gen 3 games, which obviously was proved wrong. However, there is some merit to the idea, as Gen 2 and Gen 3 are currently the most glaring omissions in the game due to how popular their respective games are. As such, it would make perfect sense forPokemon TCG Pocketto add Gen 3 boostersbased on Groudon, Kyogre, and Rayquaza, for example.
Since the main generations missing from the game are six, it’s equally possible that the next set is about any of them. Still, Gen 2 and Gen 3 seem like perfect fits from a community perspective, but one could argue that the same applies to other games. There is also the possibility thatPokemon TCG Pocketadds Mega Evolutionsin its new set or later this year as a tie-in with the physical version of the game and the upcoming release ofPokemon Legends: Z-Aon Switch and Switch 2. If that is the case, then a Gen 6 set would also make perfect sense, but for now, it remains to be seen.
