Giratina first appeared in 2008 with the release of Legends Awaken, a 146-card set featuring Gen 4 andGen 5 Pokemon. On this occasion, Giratina got a basic card with artwork by Kazuaki Aihara depicting it in its standard form known as Altered Forme. Since then, it has been featured on 18 other cards, including another famous exemplar—Giratina V. This card was released in 2022 as part of the Lost Origin set and features a stunning illustration by Shinji Kanda depicting Giratina Origin Forme against an almost psychedelic background. Recently, aPokemon TCGfan came across another famous Giratina card and got a big surprise.
On thePokemon TCGsubreddit, user Mission_Aerie5367 showed off their new acquisition: the Giratina VSTAR card. They said they found the card at their local game store for $35 and even went to the cashier to check if the price was correct.According to PokeDATA, a raw Giratina VSTAR can cost $154.12 on eBay, while its market price is $202.13. If it achieves the coveted grade 10, the price of the card of theLegendary Pokemoncan jump to $328.48. The website notes that several Giratina VSTAR copies sold for over $500 in early 2025, with the highest price being $550.
When did Pokemon TCG release Giratina VSTAR?
Pokemon TCGintroduced Giratina VSTAR, which OP got in 2023, as one of 230cards in the Crown Zenith expansion. This card features a beautiful full illustration by Akira Egawa that depicts Giratina Origin Form against a breathtaking golden background. Crown Zenith is the last special set of thePokemon Sword and Shieldera, and its cards come from other releases such as the Japanese expansion Incandescent Arcana.
