The Pokemon Company held aPokemonPresents this week that had one of the longest run times in the event’s history. The presentation, which lasted for approximately 24 minutes, covered a variety of differentPokemon-related projects, both inside and outside the world of video games. The Pokemon Company highlighted two newPokemonTV shows during the event, one of which was a Galar-themed series produced by the makers ofWallace & Gromit, Aardman Animations. It also announced a permanent outdoorPokemonattraction calledPokePark Kanto, as well as an all-newPokemon TCGexpansion centered around Mega Evolutions.
On the video game side of things, The Pokemon Company shared a bunch of new information about severalPokemonmobile games, such asPokemon Masters EX,Pokemon Sleep, andPokemon Cafe Remix. It even announced and released anewPokemonspin-off game,Pokemon Friends, for both Nintendo Switch and mobile devices. Perhaps the biggest reveal that came out of this week’s Pokemon Presents, though, was the debut of a new trailer for the upcomingPokemon Legends Z-A, which showcased an all-new Mega Evolution for Dragonite. There was one other exciting piece of news from the event that kind of went overlooked, however, and it pertained to the series' latest mainline games,Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.
The Shiny Treasures of Ruin Tera Raid Battles are Only Going to Be Available for a Limited Time
Game Freak confirmed during the recent Pokemon Presents thatPokemon Scarlet and Violetare going to get anew set of Tera Raid Battlesthat will feature Shiny variants of four Legendary Pokemon from the games: Wo-Chien, Chien-Pao, Ting-Lu, and Chi-Yu. These four Pokemon are part of the Treasures of Ruin, a quartet of rare creatures whose designs are inspired by Chinese culture and mythology. While the regular versions of the Treasures of Ruin are not that difficult to catch, this event will mark the first time that their Shiny variants can officially be encountered inPokemon Scarlet and Violet.
Players Will Only Have Two Weeks to Fight Each Treasure of Ruin
Although these Tera Raid Battles do sound exciting, there is a major caveat to keep in mind: according to Game Freak, players are only going to have two weeks to fight each of the Treasures of Ruin. After the period foreach Pokemon’s Tera Raid Battleends, players will not be able to encounter it again in the immediate future. This event, as a result, relies on a lot of FOMO to keep players engaged, which is something that some fans may not be happy about. For those who are still interested in partaking in these Tera Raid Battles, though, there are some important bits of information to take note of.
The first of the Ruinous Pokemon that is going to be featured in this series of Tera Raid Battles isShiny Wo-Chien. It will appear at a Tera Raid Crystal inPokemon Scarletand Violetfrom July 22 to August 3. The Tera Raid Battles for the other Treasures of Ruin, meanwhile, will go live in the weeks after Wo-Chien’s debut. Players will be able to encounter Shiny Chien-Pao from August 3 to August 17, Shiny Ting-Lu from August 17 to August 31, and Shiny Chi-Yu from August 31 to September 14.
Ruinous Pokemon is another name for the Treasures of Ruin.
Gamers Will Have to Collectively Defeat Each Shiny Treasure of Ruin One Million Times in Order to Unlock Them
Unlike the Pokemon featured in other Tera Raid Battles, it will not be possible to catch any of the Treasures of Ruin. Instead, players will have to collectively defeat each of the Shiny Ruinous Pokemon one million times in order to obtain them. If gamers reach these milestones, Game Freak will give the Ruinous Pokemon away to those who participated in the Tera Raid Battles through theMystery Gift feature. Although Game Freak has stated that Shiny Chi-Yu, Shiny Ting-Lu, Shiny Chien-Pao, and Shiny Wo-Chien may become obtainable again inPokemon Scarlet and Violetthrough other means in the future, taking part in this new series of events is probably the best shot that players will have at adding them to their collections.
