InPokemon GO, most monsters can generally be evolved as easily as accumulating a certain amount of Candy and hitting the evolve button on their overview page. However, there are also a few Pokemon that have moreunique evolution methods or special requirementsbefore players will be able to obtain the next monster in the evolutionary line.
One such Pokemon is Feebas, the notoriously ‘ugly’ fish Pokemon originating fromGeneration 3’s Hoenn Region. InPokemon GO, Feebas is available through a couple of different methods, including wild spawns near areas with bodies of water, as past Raid bosses, and as a reward encounter from various Field Research Task opportunities. As of theDelightful Daysseason, Feebas has made a return as a rare spawn featured in the2025 Water Festival event. As Feebas has evolution criteria that are out of the ordinary, players may find themselves curious about how they can evolve their own Feebas into Milotic. How to Evolve Feebas in Pokemon GO
Despite its design being less than appealing in comparison to cuter and cuddlier monsters, Feebas is a highly sought Pokemon in many games due to the fact that it evolves into thegorgeous water serpent Pokemon, Milotic. In the mainline Pokemon games,Feebashas unique criteria that trainers must meet in order to trigger the evolution process. This situation is the same inPokemon GO, just with varying evolution requirements that Feebas relies on.
Usually, players would need to trade the monster while it is holding a Prism Scale, or continue to raise its level while it has a maximized Beauty stat. However, these mechanics are not implemented in the game; the evolution mechanic that has been put in place is rather straightforward.
InPokemon GO,players will need to make Feebas their Buddy Pokemon, walk at least 20 kilometers with it in the Buddy role, and have accumulated at least 100 Feebas Candy. After these requirements have been met, Trainers will then be able to evolve Feebas and switch their Buddy Pokemon out for another specimen of their choice (if they so wish).
Are Shiny Feebas & Milotic Available in Pokemon GO?
Both shiny Feebas andshiny Milotichave been implemented in the game, so if Trainers are provided with the opportunity to obtain a shiny Feebas through natural encounters or trading with other trusted players, they can most certainly then use the Buddy method to farm for Candy and eventually obtain their own shiny Milotic.
However, for Trainers who will be relying on trades to source this shiny, they will need to keep in mind that Global Trading has not been implemented inPokemon GO. This means that they will be limited to trading with friends and players within their local area, which can limit things quite a bit. Despite this, there are a number of online communities that can be used to meet new players within range and set up trades. One such place is Reddit, which has multiplePokemon GOsubreddits where players can connect with and set up battles, trades, and more with other Trainers.
