Pokemon GOhas revealed that a new Max Battle Day featuring Lapras will take place on July 19. That will be another opportunity forPokemon GOplayers to catch the Gigantamax form of the Kanto pocket monster that Niantic added in 2024.
Lapras is one of the critters available sincePokemon GO’s release. Its regular form has appeared frequently in events over the years, including the 2021 editions of Pokemon GO Tour: Kanto and Pokemon GO Fest.Shiny Lapras was added in 2019at the start of the Safari Zone in Sentosa, while the Shadow variant debuted in 2019 at the Halloween event. Next was the shiny form of Shadow Lapras, added in 2020 at the Team GO Rocket event, while Gigantamax Lapras appeared in the game for the first time in 2024. Now,Pokemon GOplayers will encounter the Water/Ice-type critter once again soon.
Pokemon GOhas announced a Max Battle Day featuring Gigantamax Lapras. The event will take place on Saturday, July 19, from 2 pm to 5 pm local time. During this period, theKanto Pokemonwill appear in Max Battles, with players having the chance to encounter a shiny one. Seven bonuses will be available during the Max Battle Day, including the Max Particle collection limit increased to 1,600, and the possibility of making two additional Special Trades. As with previous events, the Remote Raid Pass limit will be increased to 20 from Friday, July 18, at 5 pm to Saturday, June 14, 2025, at 8 pm PT.
In addition to the bonuses, new Timed Research will be available starting Monday, June 28, 2025, at 6 am local time. Upon completing this Special Research,Pokemon GOplayers will encounter a Dynamax Passimianand receive rewards including Passimian Candy and Max Particles. Players should be aware, however, that this Timed Research and its rewards will expire on Saturday, Jun 01, 2025, at 5 pm local time. To help boost trainers' progress, a $4.99 ticket will be available in-game, and thePokemon GOWeb Store will sell two boxes—one for $4.99 and another for $7.99.
This Max Battle Day is an opportunity that players won’t want to miss, as it’s the first time Gigantamax Lapras has appeared since itsPokemon GOdebut. Following this event, the game’s July activity calendar promises other moments to keepPokemon GOplayers engaged, such as the debut of Tatsugiri on July 15 and the additions of Honedge, Doublade, and Aegislash on July 22.
