Pokemon GOhas revealed the dual-type Steel/Ghost Pokemon Honedge and its evolutions, Doublade and Aegislash, are making their debut on July 22 as part of a limited event. First introduced in Generation 6’s Kalos Region, the three new additions toPokemon GOall resemble medieval weapons, with Aegislash boasting a unique ability to shift between its Shield and Blade Forme in battle.
The Kalos Pokemon are part of thenewPokemon GOseason Delightful Days, which launched on June 3. The summer-themed season has seen a number of new Pokemon being added to the monster-collecting mobile game, including all three forms of the sushi-themed Tatsugiri, the Galarian Electric dog Pokemon Yamper, and the Hisuian form of the Grass-type Lilligant. Honedge’s addition marks the first Pokemon from the Kalos Region to be added toPokemon GOthis season, which could hint at future additions from Gen 6.
The upcoming event Ultra Unlock: Steel and Scales has been revealed for July 22 from 10:00 AM to July 27 at 8:00 PM local time, which will bring Honedge and its evolutions toPokemon GO. Fans of thenewest Pokemon to be featured in Julywill have the chance to encounter the sword Pokemon in the wild, as well as in both the GO Battle League’s reward track and the premium track. Players can evolve their Pokemon into Doublade with 25 Honedge Candies, and then further into Aegislash with 100 candies; no Dusk Stone required. The event will also see a number of Pokemon appearing more frequently in the wild, including the debut of shiny Rookidee.
Honedge and its Evolutions Are Coming to Pokemon Go in July
The Ultra Unlock: Steel and Scales event will bring a number of incentives forPokemon GOplayers to enjoy as they’re busy collecting the special Pokemon appearing more frequently. Besides increasedchances to find shiny variants inPokemon GO, each Pokemon caught will reward players with four times as much XP and Stardust, making evolving and trading Pokemon that much easier. New event-themed Field Research tasks will also become available, adding even more opportunities to level up, collect Stardust, and catch event-themed Pokemon.
With the9th Anniversary Party event forPokemon GOalready in full swing, trainers will have their hands full for the rest of July. Until July 6, players can see the Kanto starters — Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle — spawning more frequently in the wild with party hats in celebration of the game’s milestone. The event also saw the debut of shiny Gimmighoul, with special versions of the Pokemon holding a 9th-anniversary coin in front of a seasonal background spawning in the wild.
