APokemonfan has shared a timelapse video of them creating a watercolor painting of Dragonite. The artwork is impressive enough on its own, but getting to see the artist create every detail has led to a lot of compliments from members of thePokemoncommunity.

Many fans ofPokemonchoose to celebrate their favorites by creating their own artworks based on the franchise. Over the years, fans have created everything from traditional art pieces with paper and pencil, digital 2D art, 3D models, and tinkered with alternate mediums, like neon lights, stained glass, andrecycled materials to make Pokemon art.

In this case, the artist is using something that’s more traditional, but it’s nonetheless impressive to see. Reddit user MissGraceRose shared a painting they made ofDragonite flying across the skywhile wearing a satchel, which based on the artist’s description, likely contains parcels to be delivered. The timelapse video, which runs just shy of a minute, skips the sketching process, but shows almost the entirety of the painting and coloring. The artist delicately fills in Dragonite’s features, as well as its bag, before moving on to the background, creating a pretty blue-purple sky dotted with clouds and the slightest glimmer of stars.

Pokemon Fans Celebrate Dragonite Painting

Plenty ofPokemonfans have shared compliments with the artist on their creation. It seems that in addition to liking the finished piece, getting to see the process of setting the color down appealed to a lot of fans. Some asked questions of the artist, like their inspiration for the piece and what medium they used. The artist explained that they were inspired by Dragonite’s appearance inPokemon: The First Movie, where it delivers a letter to Ash’s group near the beginning of the film. As for the medium, MissGraceRose explained that they used Windsor & Newton watercolors.

There’s always been a bit of a disconnect between Dragonite and the appearance of its earlier evolutions, Dratini and Dragonair. However, that hasn’t kept Dragonite from being a popular Pokemon, both for its battle capabilities and its overall cuteness. Given thatPokemon Legends: Z-Arevealed Mega Dragoniterecently, it’s likely that fans of the Dragon-type Pokemon will be seeing more artwork celebrating it in the near future. MissGraceRose has also noted that they may record more of theirPokemonpaintings in the future, so fans of the artwork may want to keep an eye out for that.
